Get ready for an amazing experience at the Nike Cross Country Camp in Ellenwood, GA powered by TAE - The Athletic Engineers! Directing the camp will be Nike Cross Country Camp Director, Shaka Johnson. Each day, The Athletic Engineers will strive to enhance your athletic ability, character, mind, and body. This cross-county camp will be tailored to fit your needs and filled with detailed workouts, educational sessions, and most of all FUN! Join us this summer for an unforgettable experience as we create life-long memories together!

    Shaka Johnson

    Camp Director

    In Coach Johnson's first two seasons (2023 & 2024) she has mentored numerous All-Conference athletes such as Davonte Jackson and Ivorie Smith, who earned All-Conference at the 2024 PBC Outdoor Championships in the hurdles' races. She also mentored Sasha Knowles (2023) and Joy McLeod (2024) who finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the Heptathlon at the PBC Outdoor Championships. Under her direction, Freddie Hawkins and Kahmani Zachery also earned All-Conference honors in the High Jump in both the Indoor & Outdoor PBC Championships. Her jumping crew is one of the top-performing groups of the Peach Belt Conference and in the Southeast Region. In fact, under her leadership, Hawkins Earned the USTFCCCA All-Southeast Region accolade in the 2022-23 season.

    Shaka Johnson

    Camp Director

    Shaka Johnson was an all-around stellar athlete – competing in several sports such as gymnastics, basketball, and track and field to name a few. She won the Level 4 Gymnastics State Championships, went to the Final Four in Basketball, as well as received numerous accolades in track and field. Johnson began coaching at a very young age and is currently inspired by coaches across all sports disciplines. Johnson states, “Coaching is my purpose and there’s nothing else I’d rather do!” Johnson received a track and field scholarship to The University Georgia in the early 2000’s. After 18 years (2025), Johnson is still listed on The University of Georgia’s Women’s Indoor Top 10 List in the 55m hurdles and 60m hurdles. During her coaching career, she has led several athletes to the Junior Olympics, assisted with sports scholarships, and even helped NFL athletes improve their 40 - yard times. Johnson has coached athletes of all calibers including professional, collegiate, and grade school.

    Some of her collegiate track and field achievements include:

    • 17th in the nation for Women’s Indoor 60m hurdles
    • SEC Indoor Track & Field Champion
    • SEC Outdoor Track & Field Champion
    • SEC 60m hurdles Bronze Medalist
    • SEC Freshman Field Event Athlete of the Year
    • SEC Pentathlon Silver Medalist
    • SEC Academic Honor Roll

    • SEC All Second Team
    • UGA Most Outstanding Sprinter
    • UGA Women’s Track & Field Captain


    Johnson has received numerous certifications in order to catapult her coaching career to the next level. She currently holds six certifications:

    • USATF Level 2, Track/Field Coach- Sprints, Hurdles, Relays
    • USATF Level 2, Track/Field- Sports Science
    • USATF Level 2, Track/Field – Jumps
    • USATF Level 1, Track/Field Coach
    • Performance Enhancement Specialist, NASM
    • Youth Exercise Specialist, NASM

  • Location: Morrow High School - 4930 Steele Rd, Ellenwood, Georgia 30294
  • Dates:
    • July 23-24, 2026 (Thurs-Fri)
  • Prices:
    • Full Day: $279
    • Half Day: $179
    • Pre-Care: 8:00am-9:00am ($30 additional fee per day)
    • Post-Care: 3:00pm-4:00pm ($30 additional fee per day)
  • Ages: 10-18
  • Gender: Co-ed
  • Camp type: Full Day and Half Day options are available.
  • Schedule:
    • Full Day: 9:00am-3:00pm
    • Half Day: 9:00am-12:00pm
  • Check-in: 8:45am
  • Check-out: 3:00pm (12:00pm for Half Day campers)
  • Lunch: Campers should bring their own lunch and snacks. Concessions will be available for purchase (i.e., chips, sports drinks, candy etc.).

SIBLING DISCOUNTS

We’re excited to offer a discount for families with multiple children attending! If you’re registering two or more siblings for this camp, please reach out to us at [email protected] for a discount code to use during registration.

We offer the following sibling discounts for our running camps:

  • $15 off for weekend clinics
  • $20 off for day camp sessions
  • $25 off for overnight sessions

CAMP TUITION PAYMENTS

Full payment of camp fees must be completed by the first day of the month before camp. For example:

  • June Camps: final payment is due on May 1
  • July Camps: final payment is due on June 1
  • August Camps: final payment is due on July 1

Any camper with an unpaid balance 10 days before the start of their camp will forfeit all camp fees paid to date and be removed from the camp.

Your confirmation email shows your balance due and balance due date. Final payments can be made through the US Sports Camps Customer Portal or by phone at 1-800-645-3226.

INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT & FACILITY

  • Ratio: 1:10 staff to camper ratio
  • Grouped by: age, ability and event
  • Evaluation: by coaching staff
  • Equipment Needed: Campers should bring at least one pair of broken in running shoes. Racing flats are recommended but not required. Please be sure to properly mark your equipment, so that it can be easily identified.

CHECKLIST OF THINGS TO BRING:

Below is a suggested list of clothes, equipment and personal items. US Sports Camps is NOT responsible for lost or stolen articles or money.

ALL CAMPERS:

  • Extra athletic clothing
  • 1-2 pairs of broken in running shoes
  • Non-running shoes
  • Water bottle
  • Sunblock
  • Packed lunch and snacks
  • Small gym bag/backpack
  • Extra spending money (suggested $40-$50)

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own.

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

BEHAVIOR POLICIES

We may ask campers who require 1×1 supervision, disrupt the camp experience, or threaten the safety of themselves or others to leave camp. Behaviors meriting expulsion include, but are not limited to: a cause or threat of violence, putting themselves or others in danger, possession of a weapon, possession or use of alcohol, tobacco, nicotine, drugs or illegal substance, robbery, damage to property, sexual misconduct or assault, harassment, hazing, racist remarks or acts, or intimidation. In those cases, we will contact a parent to pick up the child immediately. We do not issue refunds to campers who are asked to leave camp.

Located in Ellenwood, GA, Morrow High School is the perfect place to refine your performance in cross country. The sprawling campus has 2 tracks, 2 baseball fields, and tennis courts in one location that make for a scenic view during runs.
