at Nike Field Hockey Camps

Join us in Newbury, Massachusetts, for an exciting field hockey camp this summer! Open to girls & boys, ages 6-18, this camp is led by Governors Academy Head Coach Katie White and her skilled coaching team.

Designed for players of all abilities, the camp helps improve stick skills, build confidence, and foster a love for field hockey. Whether you’re learning the basics or polishing your game, this is the perfect place to grow as a player, make friends, and have a fantastic time on the field!

    Katie White enters her 10th year at UMass Lowell heading into the 2021 season. She was promoted to associate head coach on May 3, 2015 after serving as the squad's first assistant for the previous three seasons and transitioned the program from Division II to Division I in 2013. In addition to working with all areas of game play, she serves as the director of the program's camps/clinics, and manages all facets of game preparation and player development which includes planning daily practice, contest preparation & scouting; including team/individual video breakdown. She oversees the organization, recruitment and evaluation of all prospective and current student-athletes and also manages aspects of budget planning and fundraising. Currently she is the supervisory liaison of Facilities, Team Services Manager and Sports Performance.

    Prior to joining the UMass Lowell staff, White served as the assistant field hockey coach at Holy Cross, spearheading the Crusaders’ recruiting efforts. She also oversaw the Holy Cross compliance and equipment duties, while assisting with the planning of daily practices and scouting.

    White has also made coaching stops at UAlbany (2007-2010) where she won the programs first ever America East Championship in 2008 and Colgate University (2006-07), helping to bolster each program’s recruiting, while assisting in all aspects of coaching.

    Outside of her collegiate coaching experience, White has also worked as the Director of the Seacoast United Field Hockey Club. She developed the training sessions, handled all of the administrative duties and organized all of the club’s tournaments and camps/clinics.

    White serves as the co-director of the Wild Hawk Academy in Chelmsford, Mass. She is responsible for all business operations and ensures daily management and communication of her staff and parents/athletes.

    She has also spent several years coaching in the United States Field Hockey Association (USFHA) Futures Program and is currently the head coach and director of the NE Region Level 1 site, as well as a NE Region selector. She holds a USA Field Hockey Level 2 Coaching Certification, as well.

    During her outstanding playing career at the University of New Hampshire, White received numerous honors over four seasons. She finished her career ranked third in program history in total goals and fourth in career points. As a senior, White served as team captain, while leading the America East in goals and points to earn First Team All-Conference and First Team Regional All-American honors for the second consecutive season. She was also named the America East Rookie of the Year in 2002. She currently ranks 6th all time for career goals at UNH and 7th all time for career points at UNH

    White graduated from New Hampshire with a bachelor's degree in psychology in 2006 and is working towards her master’s from Colgate and Albany for educational administration. She has been twice inducted into her High School Hall of Fame in 2016 & 2018 in Glens Falls, New York.

CAMP OPTIONS

Please note: Camp schedules and details may be subject to change. Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff and placed into groups based on age and ability level.

ALL SKILLS

  • Schedule: 9:00am-3:00pm Day 1-3, 9:00am-12:00pm Day 4
  • Check-in: 8:30am on Day 1
  • Check-Out: 12:00pm on Day 4
  • Lunch: Lunch is not provided, please bring a sack lunch to camp each day.
  • Program: This All Skills program is geared towards players of all abilities. The camp program includes stick work instruction & skills, technical & tactical training, offensive & defensive skills, and positioning work. Goalie-specific training is available as well.

STICKS FOR STARTERS
  • Dates: June 24-27
  • Ages: 6-10
  • Schedule: 9:00am-11:30am Day 1-3, 9:00am-12:00pm Day 4
  • Check-in: 8:30am on Day 1
  • Check-Out: 12:00pm on Day 4
  • Lunch: Lunch is not provided.
  • Program: This Sticks for Starters program is designed for players who are just starting out or are new to the sport of field hockey. Campers can get a jump-start on their stick work, learn fundamental concepts, and build a solid foundation from highly skilled staff in a fun and encouraging environment.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?

  • Instruction: Morning and afternoon training session
  • Lunch: Lunch is not provided, please bring a sack lunch to camp each day.
  • Supervision: Campers are supervised by staff during camp hours.
  • Camp Gear: All campers receive a Nike Field Hockey Camps package (reversible jersey, ball, lanyard) and other fun prizes. *1-day Clinics excluded.

INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT & FACILITY

  • Ratio: 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio
  • Groupings: Campers are grouped by ability, age, and experience, per the Director’s discretion.
  • Equipment Needed: Hockey stick, water bottle, mouth guard, shin guards, turf shoes (goalies must bring full goalie protective equipment)
  • Inclement Weather Plan: TBA
  • Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

TEAM/GROUP DISCOUNTS

If you have a group of 4 or more campers registering for the same camp, each camper is eligible for a $25 discount. If you have a group of 8 or more campers registering for the same camp, each camper is eligible for a $45 discount. Discounts are not available for camps priced at $250 or less. Please fill out the Team Discount - Field Hockey form and we will create a unique discount code for your group.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.
