Nike Junior Golf Camps
Nike Junior Golf Camps at Wofford College is proud to bring back our overnight golf camp to South Carolina for another great summer. Take advantage of top-notch golf instruction from experienced collegiate coaches and teaching professionals while enjoying a slice of college life on Wofford's beautiful campus.
The overnight camp includes all golf instruction, course play, meals, housing, and evening activities. Campers are housed in the dorms on campus and eat meals in the dining halls each day. Following dinner each night, campers participate in evening activities that can include campus tours, movies, and other sports activities.
Local residents have the option of participating in the day camp which runs from 8:30am - 5:00pm. This option includes all golf instruction, lunch, and course play. Day campers are dropped off and picked up at Country Club of Spartanburg each day. Details on the first and last days of camp will be included in the Nike Camp registration packet.

Camp Director Angie Ridgeway
Angie Ridgeway serves as head women's golf coach at Wofford College. Ridgeway has guided the Terriers to unprecedented heights since arriving at Wofford in July 2004.View Angie Ridgeway's Bio ⟩
The former LPGA player was originally tabbed as the associate director of golf before being named the women’s head coach during the summer of 2005.
The Terriers have won eight tournaments in Ridgeway’s era. It includes Wofford’s first NCAA Division I tournament victory, winning the Wofford Invitational in October of 2004. Ridgeway has also coached the Terriers to 44 top-five tournament finishes, and a Terrier has taken the individual title at 10 tournaments since Ridgeway came to Spartanburg. Current assistant coach Erin Wells won the program's first individual championship, taking the 2007 Wofford Invitational.
A 12-year veteran of the LPGA Tour, she played in over 190 events and six U.S. Opens. Her most successful years came in 1992 and 1993 when she finished 62nd on the LPGA Tour money list with a scoring average of 73.1 and 72.9, respectively. In addition to playing on the regular tour, she also competed in over 260 charity and corporate pro-am events. Ridgeway is also a Class A member of the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Division as well as TPI Level One Certified.
Coach Jennifer Shillington
Coach Shillington is an LPGA teaching professional and brings years of junior golf experience to the Nike Junior Golf Camp at Wofford College.View Jennifer Shillington's Bio ⟩
Jennifer Shillington is from Chatham, Ontario, Canada and began playing golf at the age of eight. As a junior and amateur player, Jennifer was ranked #1 in Ontario and #2 in Canada. She had the talent and skill to be successful on the LPGA Tour but found that her real passion centered on teaching. In 1994 she turned professional where she has amassed over 20 years of teaching experience. Some of her most significant accomplishments include director of instruction for the Peninsula Club in Charlotte, NC, lead staff instructor for the distinguished Dana Radar Golf Academy, and the director of instruction for the nationally acclaimed Phil Ritson/Mel Sole Golf School for the last 15 years.
Coach Todd Lawton
Todd Lawton is the head coach of the men's and women's golf teams at the University of South Carolina Upstate.View Todd Lawton's Bio ⟩
Lawton had the privilege of bringing back the men's golf program since it was discontinued after the 1990-91 academic year and starting the women's program.
Lawton is a Professional Golf Association (PGA) Class A Professional and has been instrumental in the growth of youth golf in the Charlotte area. He was the Senior Manager and Director of Golf at Regent Park Golf Club from 2002-03 and served as the club's PGA Head Professional from 1998-2002. He started the Charlotte Metro Junior Golf Association with his wife, Laura, in 2000. He has also contributed articles in Florida 's Golf Newspaper and Pub Links Magazine and has served as the PGA Teaching Professional for NBC6-TV's Golf Instruction Tips program in Charlotte from 2002-03. Prior to taking the job at Queens, he served as a golf instructor for two years at the Wally Armstrong Golf Schools in Lakeland , Fla. Lawton has served as a national member of the Ben Hogan Advisory Board and the ESPN National Golf Challenge Advisory Board.
Campers (overnight only) are housed in double rooms on campus and have their meals in the dining halls. Golf instruction takes place at Country Club of Spartanburg, located a few minutes from campus which is a perfect environment to improve your game. The Overnight fee includes all golf instruction, green fees, evening activities, housing and meals. The Day fee includes golf instruction, lunch, and afternoon course play.
The staff lives in the dormitories/resort accommodations with the campers and participates in evening activities. Drugs, alcohol and tobacco are strictly prohibited, and constitute, along with general misconduct, grounds for dismissal from camp without a refund.
Nike Junior Golf Camps does not provide transportation to or from airports, train stations, or bus depots. Campers are responsible for being dropped off and picked up from camp.
A detailed camper registration packet containing check in location, health/release forms, emergency contact info, and a list of things to bring will be emailed to all registered campers in the Spring.
This camp is open to any and all entrants that meet the age requirements.
Sample Daily Schedule
- 7:30am Wake-up, breakfast
- 9:00am Camp meeting at practice facility, skill demonstrations from staff focusing on key elements of the swing for that day
- 9:30am Instruction - campers rotate through stations working on putting, chipping, pitching, bunker play and full swing
- 12:00pm Lunch and relaxation
- 1:00pm Course play with staff focusing on strategy, shot selection, course management, rules and etiquette
- 5:00pm Day campers depart, overnight campers return to campus for dinner
- 7:00 - 9:00pm Evening activities (TBD)
- 10:30pm Lights out

Wofford Golf Learning Center
Since 2006, the Wofford men's and women's golf teams have utilized the newly renovated Golf Learning Center on campus. The center is located on the upper floor of Andrew Fieldhouse, the former varsity gymnasium. The venue contains 17 lockers, one for each of the men's and women's student-athletes. The center houses a hitting area, video capabilities for swing and technique study, along with a putting area and storage room complete the facility. This indoor facility will be used in cases of inclement weather during the camp week.
