    Head Coach, Camp Director

During the 2022-23 season, Steele spent time as the lead assistant for Temple as she helped the squad to six of the team’s Top 20 scores in school history, including the third and fourth highest overall scores. With her primary apparatus being the beam, Steele helped the Cherry and White to two of the program’s Top 10 scores. Seven of her student-athletes matched or set career highs on the beam with two Owls earning All-EAGL on beam under her tutelage.

Prior to her arrival at Temple, Steele served as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Maryland, assisting with all four events with her primary focus being on the floor and vault. She helped Maryland earn a No. 20 national ranking during the season, post the second through fifth highest point totals in program history, and have one of its gymnasts earn All-American honors for the first time since 2013.

While coaching in College Park, Steele was also an Optional Coach at Hill's Gymnastics Training Center in Maryland, known for training some of the best gymnasts on the East Coast.

Prior to Maryland, Steele lived in Hawaii for five years, working as a coach and competitive athlete for Crossfit. She was a five-time Crossfit Games Regional Competitor from 2015 to 2019 and was recognized as the top 1% of worldwide Crossfit competitors. While competing, she was twice named Fittest Athlete in Hawaii in 2017 and 2018 and Fittest in Delaware in 2019.

During her time in Hawaii, Steele rose from Optional Coach to the Director of Coaching and Head Coach of Kokokahi Gymnastics team in Kaneohe, Hawaii. Steele rebuilt the Kokokahi program and was instrumental in having one of her athletes sign with a college gymnastics program for the first time in seven years.

As a student-athlete at Georgia (2007-11), Steele, who competed under her maiden name, Mauro, helped the GymDogs win the 2008 and 2009 NCAA Championships. As a freshman, she earned second team All-America honors on the beam with a 9.85 score. Also, during her collegiate career, she helped lead Georgia to the 2008 SEC Championship while earning all-SEC Freshman Team honors. In 2011, she won the SEC Vault individual championship.

After earning her degree from Georgia, she served as a volunteer assistant coach for the program during the 2011-12 season.

Prior to her time at Georgia, Steele was a USA Gymnastics National Team member from 2005 to 2007. She competed internationally, earning a silver medal on balance beam at the World Cup in Ghent Belgium, a silver medal on Floor Exercise in Ireland, and a silver medal on floor at the Houston International Invitational. She was an alternate for the 2006 Team USA World Championship Team where she trained under Mary Lee Tracy.

Steele and her husband, Matthew, are the parents of a newborn daughter, Gracen Piper.
