Stony Brook University Head Coach Caroline McCombs Named Coach of The Year
Caroline McCombs, Stony Brook University Head Women’s Basketball Coach is named the America East Conference Division 1 Coach of the Year for the 2019-20 season. This honor comes off a historic season for the Seawolves, finishing with a 14-2 conference record and 26-3 overall record and the program’s first-ever regular-season title and No. 1 seed in the playoffs.
In an article released from Stony Brook University, Coach McCombs says, "I'm honored to receive this award for our team. I'm so incredibly thankful for each person who is a part of our program. Our players' growth on and off the court continues to make us better every day. Our coaches' and support staff's investment in their lives has been so instrumental. And lastly, the support from Shawn Heilbron and our administration for us to build this program has been unwavering. Again, I'm humbled for the opportunity to lead this program every day."
This honor lands McCombs as the first program coach to receive Coach of the Year in Stony Brook University Women’s Basketball history. The 2019-20 season is her sixth season as Head Coach and the winningest coach in Stony Brook’s Division 1 era.
This summer Coach McCombs will host a girl only Nike Basketball Camp at Stony Brook University geared towards all skills level. Over the course of the week, campers will work on fundamentals, offensive and defensive skills, shooting technique, and footwork in a fun and positive environment.
