Nike Flag Football Camps add Two New Locations in Virginia

Nike Flag Football Camps 2

Nike Flag Football Camps, a division of US Sports Camps, the largest provider of sports camps in the world, is excited to announce two new Virginia camp locations. The camps will be directed by Ron Whitcomb, a former assistant coach at Old Dominion University. The camps will be held at the Virginia Beach Field House and Kecoughtan High School.

Whitcomb had a stellar playing record at the University of Maine and had been with Old Dominion’s Football Program since its foundation in 2007. He finished his playing career in 2006 and left the University of Maine as the leader in completions (755), total offense (8,801), and touchdown passes (68) as well as finishing second on the all time leader board for passing yards (8,183) and completion percentage (.592). Whitcomb was also named the Atlantic-10 Student-Athlete of the Year in 2006-2007. After graduation, Whitcomb was immediately scooped up by his former coach, Bobby Wilder to be the quarterback’s coach at ODU for Wilder’s first season as a Head Coach.

These five-day camps will offer Half Day and Full Day options with a staff of coaches directed by Coach Whitcomb. Held at first-class facilities, Nike Flag staff members will help each camper learn the fundamentals while assisting them in developing their skills using proper techniques. Offensive and defensive position drills along with proper stretching and warm-ups occur each day along with fun football competitions. Campers will then get to apply what they’ve learned earlier in the day and bring it to the field for exciting flag football games.

“We are excited to be able to bring the NIKE Flag Football Camps to young athletes in Virginia this summer. Under the direction of Coach Ron Whitcomb, campers attending will benefit from his years as a starting NCAA quarterback, college coach and private instructor,” states Mike de Surville, Senior VP and National Director for Nike Flag Football Camps. “Ron’s energy and passion for the sport is immediately noticeable each and every time he steps on the field and will be felt by each camper in attendance as they gain a greater understanding of the game, have fun and learn valuable lessons on topics like sportsmanship and nutrition.“

The overall goal of these camps will be for youth players, to enjoy the wonderful game of Flag Football in a fun and engaging environment, where they’ll learn new skills, make new friends and have a lot of fun. Each camper will leave camp with a smile on their face and as a better more confident athlete.
