2010 Camp Counselor Excels at Stanford

Stanford Facility Small

Former camp counselor and Stanford senior Elliott Heath of the men's track team was selected as the Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of March 7-13. Heath continued his fantastic indoor season at the NCAA Championships in College Station, Texas. Heath captured the NCAA title in the 3,000 meters one night after placing fifth in the 5,000 meters. The two results gave Heath his fifth and sixth All-America honors of his career.

The NCAA title in the 3K was the first of Heath's career and was done in impressive fashion as he outkicked a loaded field to win in 8:03.71. A day earlier, Heath finished fifth in the 5K in new Stanford record time of 13:34.54. Overall, he scored 14 team points for the Cardinal as Stanford finished in eighth place.

Heath is earning his third Stanford/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season. He was honored in the fall after winning the Pac-10 title in cross country and earlier this winter when he set the Stanford record in the indoor 5K for the first time. Elliott and his brother Garrett Heath are one of two sets of brothers (Also Drac and Janson Wigo - water polo) to each earn Muscle Milk honors during their Stanford careers.  Heath was a counselor at the 2010 Track & Field and XC Camp at Stanford.
