Nike Green Mountain Running Camp Announces Dates for 2020 and New Location
Nike Running Camps, a division of US Sports Camps the largest provider of sports camps in the world, has announced the dates and new location of its famed Nike Green Mountain Running Camp for the summer of 2020.
SAN RAFAEL, Calif. -- The Northeast’s premier cross country running camp, the Nike Green Mountain Running Camp proudly celebrates its 46th summer. This year it will be held on the campus of The Salisbury School in Salisbury, CT.
Green Mountain Running Camp (GMRC) Camp Director, and Cornell University Head Coach of Women's Track & Field/Men's and Women's Cross Country, Mike Henderson had this to say about the move, “We are extremely excited about the pairing for GMRC with the Salisbury School. We are always striving to enhance the camp experience for those attending, and believe the amazing running trials, beautiful campus and outstanding facilities at The Salisbury School are a perfect match for the athletic training and educational philosophy that is at the heart of GMRC.”
With a large lake on the 725-acre campus, runners will now have full access to it for post run soaks and daily afternoon cool down recreational swimming. Salisbury boasts miles of trails and dirt road running, plus a great XC course right on campus and it is in close proximity to the famed Appalachian Trail.
The Flood Athletic Center has meeting rooms, a turfed indoor rink, two full basketball courts, and a second turfed indoor facility. All of which are perfect for the recreational activities and educational sessions provided during GMRC.
Salisbury is centrally located as it is only two hours from NYC, just over an hour from Hartford and Albany, and less than three hours from Boston. GMRC will continue to run buses from the Philadelphia and White Plains areas for campers looking for a ride to camp, and will now offer buses from the 91/93 corridor for our New England runners, if requested.
The camp dates for 2020 are Sunday to Friday, July 26-31 and August 2-7. Campers can attend one or both sessions, with the option to stay on campus in-between. The camp will continue offering the perfect mix of learning, training, and recreation for both high school and middle school runners.
It also offers an informative Coaches Workshop for coaches interested in learning more about our Effort Based Training curriculum. Also offered are Advanced Placement (AP) Cross Country Classes for those elite runners who desire college level instruction about the art & science of Running.
