    Krystian Witkowski

    Head Men's Soccer Coach - Fairfield University

    Krystian Witkowski brings a proven track record of collegiate success, elite player development, and youth training expertise to his role as Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Fairfield University. Now in his second season leading the program, Witkowski is recognized for his ability to elevate athletes through a modern, detail‑driven coaching style focused on technical growth, tactical understanding, and strong character development, qualities that make him an outstanding leader for camp settings.

    Head Men's Soccer Coach - Fairfield University

    Witkowski arrived at Fairfield following three highly successful seasons at Northwestern University, where he rose from First Assistant to Associate Head Coach. During his tenure, the Wildcats reached new heights, including a 10‑4‑3 record in 2023, their best season since 2008, and a Top‑12 national ranking. He coached multiple athletes to All‑Region and All‑Big Ten honors and helped secure back‑to‑back nationally ranked recruiting classes—evidence of his eye for talent and deep commitment to developing young players.

    Before Northwestern, Witkowski spent four impactful seasons at Army West Point, where he again built nationally recognized recruiting classes and helped guide the program to historic success, including a Patriot League Championship runner‑up finish and the highest RPI ranking in school history. Across his collegiate coaching career, he has helped mentor numerous All‑Conference, All‑Region, All‑America, and Academic honorees.

    Witkowski began his coaching journey at Marist College, his alma mater, where he helped the program earn its first‑ever home MAAC playoff match following an 11‑win season. His dedication to youth development also expanded through professional experience with New York Red Bulls II, where he served as a Performance Analyst—working closely with staff to enhance player performance, match preparation, and individual development plans.

    As a player, Witkowski competed professionally for the Philadelphia Union after being selected in the 2012 MLS Draft. At Marist, he was a standout midfielder, earning three All‑MAAC First Team selections, two All‑Region honors, and multiple Academic awards, while also representing the Polish U‑18 National Team.

    Assistant Men's Soccer Coach - Fairfield University

    Johnny Raj brings a wealth of collegiate coaching experience, player‑development expertise, and a proven ability to elevate young athletes to the Fairfield University men’s soccer staff. Now returning as an assistant coach, Raj enters this role with a strong reputation for developing technical, confident, and coachable players.

    Jonathan Raj

    Assistant Men's Soccer Coach - Fairfield University

    Raj rejoined Fairfield after serving as the Head Coach at the University of Mount Saint Vincent, where he led the Dolphins to an impressive 8‑5‑4 record and a six‑match unbeaten conference run that propelled them into the Skyline Conference Championship game. His squad finished 10th nationally in goals‑against average, reflecting his commitment to disciplined defending, organization, and player growth.

    Before Mount Saint Vincent, Raj spent six seasons on the Fairfield University coaching staff (2017–2022). During his tenure, the Stags became one of the MAAC’s premier programs, winning the 2017 MAAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships, earning an NCAA Tournament berth, and securing back‑to‑back MAAC regular‑season titles. His ability to mentor student‑athletes and prepare players for high‑level competition helped fuel multiple standout seasons, including a win over nationally ranked UNC‑Wilmington.

    Raj’s coaching career also includes time at the University of Bridgeport, where he contributed to the development of both field players and goalkeepers, reinforcing his versatility as a teacher of the game.

    As a player, Raj was a four‑year standout at Fairfield University, earning three First Team All‑MAAC selections, two All‑Region honors, and a place on the Hermann Trophy Watchlist. He captained the Stags for three seasons and led the program to MAAC championships. His playing experience extends to the PDL, competing for the Chicago Fire, Reading United, and CFC Azul, where he served as captain. Internationally, Raj represented the New Zealand U‑20 National Team and spent time with Auckland City FC, winners of the Oceania Federation title and participants in the FIFA Club World Cup.

    Known for his professionalism, leadership, and commitment to youth development, Raj brings an energetic and player‑focused coaching style that helps campers build confidence, improve fundamentals, and love the game.

    Anthony Paolini

    Assistant Men's Soccer Coach - Fairfield University

    Anthony Paolini joined the Fairfield University men's soccer program in July of 2024. Paolini brings a great deal of insight and experience to the program particularly in the area of player development and video analysis.

    Anthony Paolini

    Assistant Men's Soccer Coach - Fairfield University

    Paolini most recently served as the Mount Saint Vincent’s top assistant coach where he helped the Dolphins reach as high as 10th nationally in Division III for Goals Against Average before finishing 18th with a 0.68 mark through 20 matches.

    He also guided three Mount St. Vincent student-athletes to All-Skyline First Team honors including Ian Lamas who finished third in the country for shots on goal per game with 2.93 per match. Justin Betancourt and Donovan Speer also were selected to the All-Skyline First Team in 2023.

    As a student-athlete, Paolini contributed to both Post University and Sacred Heart University and helped the programs achieve success. He played a pivotal role in helping Post secure the CACC Regular Season Championship which led to the spot in the Division II NCAA tournament. While there, the Eagles advanced to the Round of 16 before falling in extra time which also represented the farthest run in the NCAA tournament in school history.

    After leaving the collegiate game, Paolini took on captaincy roles for the Westchester Flames and AC Connecticut’s USL2 teams, while also going on trials with several professional clubs in the United States. One of his playing career stops came with Lansdowne Yonkers F.C. where he won the Fricker Cup and National Championship. He also participated in two consecutive U.S. Open Cup tournaments, competing against opponents such as Rochester FC and Hartford Athletic.

    He currently works with Revolution United, a Premier level club in Fairfield where he strategically plans which foster player development while creating a positive environment.

    Paolini is a native of Fairfield Country and currently resides in Seymour, CT.

    Gordon Botterill

    Assistant Men's Soccer Coach - Fairfield University

    Gordon Botterill, a former goalkeeper for the Fairfield University men’s soccer team, returned to campus to serve as an assistant coach for the Stags beginning with the 2024 season.

    Assistant Men's Soccer Coach - Fairfield University

    Botterill was a highly-decorated goalkeeper during his four-year stay at Fairfield, earning a pair of goalkeeper of the year awards (2018 & 2020) by vote of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) head coaches. He also secured a berth to the All-MAAC postseason team all four years that he donned a Stags uniform.

    He finished his Fairfield career with 229 saves in his 60 appearances, averaging 3.8 saves per game over his career. He owned a .779 save percentage and a 1.04 goals against average during his four years, allowing just 65 goals and posting 21 shutouts. He tallied a career-best 86 saves in his junior campaign, averaging just over five saves per outing. He currently holds the school record for career shutouts with 23.

    He continued his collegiate career by attending the University of California-Irvine where he earned more honors for his play. In his single season with the program, he posted a 0.91 goals against average and was named the Big West Goalkeeper of the Year following the 2021 season. He stopped four of eight penalty kicks that year. He capped the year with 64 saves highlighted by his 10 stops against #5 Georgetown in his debut with UC-Irvine.

    In January 2023, Botterill signed professionally with Queen of the South FC in Scotland where he played for 18 months

    Botterill earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a minor in business analytics from Fairfield University in 2021. He followed with a master’s degree from UC Irvine.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?

  • Instruction: Training from the Fairfield University Men's Soccer coaching staff
  • Supervision: Staff members are strategically placed throughout the campus/field to provide optimal supervision

INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT, & FACILITY

  • Equipment Needed: All campers must bring soccer cleats, shin guards, athletic shoes, and a water bottle.
  • Facility: Lessing Field & Rafferty Stadium
  • Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.
