Assistant Coach Dan Gribben
Dan Gribben will be entering his first year as an assistant coach for the men's soccer program at the University of Charleston.View Dan's Bio ⟩
Dan played three years at the University of Houston Victoria, Texas. There, he won two Red River Conference Tournaments and featured in two NAIA national championships.
Following graduation from UHV, Dan started his coaching career at St. Ambrose University while obtaining a master's degree in IT Management. He coached the women's soccer team and in 2021 he helped win the CCAC Conference Title and the program featured in the NAIA national tournament. This was the first CCAC Conference Title in the program's history.
Dan spent the 2022 Fall season at Nicholls State University coaching the women's soccer program before joining UC.
Assistant Coach Alex Morais
Alex Morais is joining the Men's Soccer coaching staff for his first season with the Golden Eagles Spring 2023.View Alex's Bio ⟩
Prior to returning to Charleston, Morais was previously the Head Men's and Women's Soccer Coach at Lincoln Trail College (NJCAA D1) in Illinois. Last year, both programs had their best overall records of all time and the men's soccer program managed to received votes to be nationally ranked at the NJCAA D1 national poll for their first time in the program's history.
Prior to joining LTC, Morais served as a graduate assistant men’s soccer coach at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville (NCAA D1). He also served as the ECNL U17/U19 head coach at St. Louis Scott Gallagher. Additionally, Morais was the head coach for the Austin United FC NPSL club and the Technical Director for the Austin United FC Academy in Texas.
Morais was a two-time captain as a soccer player at the University of Illinois Springfield from 2017 to 2019 and also played at the University of Charleston in 2016.
He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from UIS and a Master's of Business Administration from SIUE. He has achieved his United States Soccer Federation D license and Performance Analyst Course Level 3 from CBF Academy (Brazilian Soccer Federation).
Assistant Coach Chris Gribben
Chris Gribben will be entering his second season as an Assistant Coach at the University of Charleston in Fall 2023, after spending 4 years as a player for the Men’s Soccer program.View Chris's Bio ⟩
In the Fall 2022 season, Chris’s first as a UC Assistant Coach, the Golden Eagles achieved a record of 20-2. Along the way, the team reclaimed their MEC Regular Season Championship as well as becoming MEC Tournament Champions for the fifth consecutive season. The Golden Eagles reached the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament, losing by just one goal.
In the Fall 2021 season, Chris was an Assistant Coach at the University of Rio Grande. During this season, Rio won both the River States Conference Regular Season and Tournament championships, while only conceding one goal in the regular season. Rio went on to achieve a record of 17-3-1, reaching the second game of the NAIA National Tournament, where they narrowly lost to the reigning champions.
During his time as a player at UC, Chris was part of a team that won 2 National Championships and 2 Regional Championships among other honors. Chris graduated from UC in Spring 2021 with a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Business and is currently studying an MBA.

This program is geared toward Player Development & High-Performance campers. Players will work on mastering the proper fundamentals, techniques and advancing their overall skills and knowledge of the game. A great opportunity for players to learn through a mix of drills, games, and competitive play. With a number of different camp options for all to enjoy!
Player Development is for campers of all skill levels. These camps are designed to maximize player participation and ensure each camper develops in all aspects of the game in a fun and engaging environment. Coaches will implement a wide range of technical, physical, and tactical activities with a focus on fun so campers get to improve with a smile on their faces.
High Performance is for campers looking to improve their game in a fun and fast-paced environment. These camps are designed so players leave the camp week more prepared for their club and high school seasons. Experienced coaches will provide campers with a fresh perspective and challenge them to develop technical, tactical, physical, and psychological aspects of their game through a progressive curriculum.
*NOTE: If you believe your camper should be in a different skill level than the age requirement listed, please add a note at check-out and mention it to the camp director on day 1.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?
Instruction: Training from the University of Charleston Men's Soccer coaching staff
Day campers: Lunch or snacks are not provided. Please bring a packed lunch. There will be a water station available to fill up and stay hydrated
Supervision: Staff members are strategically placed throughout the camp to provide optimal supervision and participate in all activities
Camp T-shirt & Prizes: All campers receive a Nike Soccer Camps t-shirt and prizes
INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT, & FACILITY
Ratio: Low camper-to-coach ratio
Groupings: Campers are grouped by age, ability, and experience
Equipment Needed: All campers must bring soccer cleats, shin guards, athletic shoes, and a water bottle.
Facility: Welch Athletic Complex
Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital
CHECKLIST OF THINGS TO BRING:
Below is a suggested list of clothes, equipment, and personal items. US Sports Camps is NOT responsible for lost or stolen articles or money.
- Athletic clothing
- Soccer Cleats (no metal studs)
- Shin guards

- Small gym bag/backpack
Nike Soccer Camp Balls can be purchased during registration. Players can choose between a size 4 or size 5 ball, which will be passed out on the first day of camp. Please note that it is not required to bring a soccer ball to camp as they are provided by the staff for camp instruction.
If you have a group of 4 or more campers registering for the same camp, each camper is eligible for a $25 discount. If you have a group of 8 or more campers registering for the same camp, each camper is eligible for a $30 discount. Please fill out the Team Discount - Soccer form with the name of your group and the names of each camper enrolling in the camp and we will create a unique discount code for your group.
Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.
Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.
