Don’t miss your chance this summer to make new friendships and receive elite-level training at Nike Softball Camp Home PL8 Pittsburgh in Gibsonia, PA. Young athletes will have a great opportunity to improve in all components of the game with Coach Katie Hedderman and their coaching staff. They will ensure a positive and encouraging atmosphere each day as campers have a great time competing with each other. Each day, campers will develop their softball hitting, fielding, base running, and team play to help them compete at the highest level with their schools and club teams.

    With a decade of experience in providing private softball lessons in the Pittsburgh area and coaching collegiately and at the high school level, Coach Kate has become a strong figure in softball coaching. Currently serving as the Head Coach at Hampton High School, Kate's journey in the world of softball is marked by both personal achievements and a passion for developing the next generation of female athletes.

    Kate etched her name in the history of Slippery Rock softball history, leaving as one of the program's top offensive players. Her impressive career statistics include rankings in the top five for career batting average (.372), slugging percentage (.611), and on-base percentage (.410). She stands tied for sixth in doubles (26), seventh in RBI (73), and eighth in home runs (15). Her impact extends to single-season records, where she holds positions in hits, total bases, doubles, and batting average.

    This blend of playing and coaching experience positions her as a mentor who understands the game from various perspectives. Katie's vision and dedication materialized when she founded HomePL8 Training, a softball-exclusive facility. Boasting a staff comprised entirely of former or current female collegiate players, the facility emphasizes not only the physical aspects of the game but also the mental facets. HomePL8 Training is more than a facility; it's a community designed to empower young women both on and off the field.

    Excitingly, Katie is set to elevate softball training in Pittsburgh through an exclusive 4-day camp in collaboration with Nike. This partnership signifies not only her proficiency as an instructor but also her commitment to providing top-notch training experiences. The clinic promises a transformative four days, leaving athletes not only with refined skills and drills but also a heightened level of confidence.

    To enhance the camp experience, Katie will be joined by current collegiate athletes, injecting fresh perspectives and up-to-date techniques into the training regimen. This collaborative approach ensures that participants receive a comprehensive and dynamic learning experience.

    This exclusive clinic with Nike is a testament to her commitment to nurturing the next generation of softball players, fostering not just athletic skills but a mindset of resilience and empowerment.

    Charlotte Lomb has been an instructor with HomePL8 since 2022, starting as a junior in high school and is now in her freshman year at the University of Albany.

    Charlotte’s high school career was decorated with accolades, including All State, All Conference, and four-time Defensive Player of the Year honors. She will be leading the half-day camp after completing her first year playing at the University of Albany.

    A catcher with a big bat from Hampton High School, she was the captain her junior year and again her senior year of high school. Mackenzie will be headed to the University of Pittsburgh in the fall to continue her academics and her softball career.

    She made first team All Section "Big 56" her sophomore year 2022 and was MVP her junior year. Mackenzie carried the highest batting average on her team .586 for her junior year. For her travel ball team, Mackenzie made the $10,000 catch allowing her team to win the "Show Me the Money" tournament!

    Kyra has just finished her second season at Washington and Jefferson College, playing in the highly competitive Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC).

    She finished the 2024 season leading her team in batting and was accordingly awarded by being named to the 2024 First Team All- PAC. She maintained a strong academic profile while doing so, consistently earning Dean’s List honors and the Fritz academic prize. She was previously a captain of her team at North Hills High School, leading them to a 2021 5A WPIAL Championship, a silver finish in PIAA play and earning her a Big 56 All Section selection. She was a three-year letter winner during her time at North Hills and had previously been awarded the 2019 Sportsmanship award. Adding to her list of championships, most notably her and her travel team won both the 2020 USSSA Eastern National Championship and the 2020 All Sanctioned World Series Championship.

    A catcher from Armstrong Highschool, a 3 year letter award winner. She was the captain of her team her senior year. Abby is committed to Saint Vincent College to continue her academic and athletic career this fall.

    During her career her team played in the WPIAL championship all four years winning in ‘22 and ‘24. In each of those years her team played in the PIAA state playoffs. In ‘21 and ‘22 they placed second in the state championship. Also coming in 3rd her junior year. She was selected as big 56 all section second team her senior year ‘24.

Camp Details

Instruction will focus primarily on hitting, fielding, base-running, and game situations. You can expect high demand for these first come first serve camper spots, so please be sure to register early.

Youth Fundamental Camp (Ages 7-10)

  • Age Group: 7-10
  • Camp Type: Half Day Camp
  • Half-Day Camp Schedule: Monday-Thursday 9:00am-12:00pm
  • Check-In: Begins 30 minutes prior to the camp start time.
  • Meals: Lunch is not provided. Please bring a snack to camp each day.

Charlotte Lomb, after completing her first season playing Division I softball at The University of Albany, brings five years of experience training athletes. This camp is designed to develop the foundational skills essential for young players, covering:

  • Throwing
  • Fielding
  • Base Running
  • Hitting
  • Game IQ
  • The Mental Side of the Game

Campers will enjoy a fun, engaging experience while gaining valuable skills to grow their game.

Advanced Camp (Ages 11-14)

  • Age Group: 11-14
  • Camp Type: Day Camp
  • Day Camp Schedule: Monday-Thursday 9:00am-2:00pm
  • Check-In: Begins 30 minutes prior to the camp start time.
  • Meals: Lunch is not provided. Please bring a snack/lunch to camp each day.

Designed for athletes with a basic understanding of softball, this camp aims to elevate their performance both physically and mentally. Led by Coach Kate Hedderman, this advanced camp will focus on:

  • Primary Position Training
  • Offense
  • The Mental Game
  • Advanced Game IQ

Participants will gain the tools to take their game to the next level in a challenging yet supportive environment.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?

  • Daily Softball Instruction
  • Supervision: Campers are supervised by staff during camp hours

INSTRUCTION & FACILITY

  • Ratio: 1:10 staff to camper ratio

  • Groupings: Campers are initially grouped by age and moved around accordingly based on skill level.

  • Facility: Outdoor Fields. Indoor facilities are available during inclement weather conditions.

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

TRAVEL

Nike Softball Camps does not provide transportation from airports, train stations or bus depots. If you have a child flying to camp, please arrange a shuttle or taxi service.

TEAM/GROUP DISCOUNT

If you have a group of campers registering for the same camp, each camper is eligible for a discount. Please have someone contact the US Sports Camps office at 1-800-645-3226 with the names of each camper in the group and we will create a unique discount code for your group. Campers may then register individually through the website at their convenience and apply the offer code during checkout. *Discount amount varies by program. Please call for details.
