Register for our new Nike Swim Camp at UCSB in Summer 2025 and enjoy elite-level training on a beautiful, oceanfront campus. Structured for swimmers with competitive swim experience, the camp offers a unique opportunity to train under the direction of college coaches and current and former collegiate athletes who serve as counselors. The camp is open to swimmers ages 10-17.

Overnight Camp: Our overnight camp at UCSB offers an immersive, on-campus experience where swimmers reside in the Manzanita Village dormitories (just steps from the beach) in adjacent rooms to the camp staff. The tuition includes all swim training, housing, meals, fun evening activities, as well as college recruiting and sports psychology seminars in the evenings (parents are encouraged to attend the seminars!).

Day Camp (9:00am – 4:00pm): Nike Swim Camps also offer a summer day camp program for local swimmers. This program runs 9:00am-4:00pm (schedule varies by day) and includes daytime training only. Campers must bring their own lunch or purchase on campus.

The Nike Swim Camp at UCSB is open to any and all entrants and limited only by number, age and gender. The Nike Swim Camp at UCSB is not owned, sponsored, co-sponsored or controlled by the University.

    Westy McQueen is the owner and camp director for Next Athletes, operator of Nike Sports Camps. Westy has over 10 years of experience operating youth programs and has designed the Next Athletes programs with the purpose of providing a truly memorable, athletic development experience for each child.

    Head Swimming & Diving Coach, Biola University Nate Harding

    Nate Harding took over the reigns of the Biola men's and women's swimming and diving programs in the summer of August 2021. The 2024-25 school year will be his fourth year as the Eagles' head coach. Throughout Harding's career as the Biola swimming and diving head coach, he has coached five CSCAA Scholar All-Americans, 10 CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams, 15 PCSC Athlete's of the Week, and three NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships qualifiers. The teams have also broken a total of 22 school records since he took over the program in 2021. Harding earned his own hardware in 2023 and 2024 with back-to-back PCSC Men's Swimming and Diving Coach of the Year awards.

    Kulsum Baig is a certified athletic trainer and handles all athletic training needs for Next Athletes’ Nike Sports Camps. With a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from San Diego State University and a Graduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Injury Management from the University of Kentucky, Kulsum has worked with athletes at the high school, collegiate, and clinical levels.

You can expect a high demand for these first-come-first-served camper spots, so please be sure to register early. This summer, Santa Cruz is offering one session of overnight with a day camp option (9:00am-4:00pm) for ages 10-18. Instruction will take place each day at the UC Santa Barbara pool.

  • Meals: Meals are provided for overnight campers only. Day campers are required to bring their own lunch daily.
  • Apparel: All campers should arrive at check-in dressed in their athletic apparel and ready to train.
  • Program: The Stroke Technique program is designed to provide competitive swimmers with a better understanding of swimming fundamentals. Stroke refinement along with constructive feedback will be the focus of the camp and allows each participant to gain a greater knowledge of proper stroke mechanics and ways to improve themselves individually.

The information below is based on previous years and is subject to change each year.

Please note: Camp is closed to spectators during daytime hours. Parents are highly encouraged to attend the orientation on the first day and closing ceremony on the final day!

SUMMER OVERNIGHT CAMP

The overnight program includes instruction, fun games and competitions for prizes, overnight accommodation, all meals, fun evening activities, and more. The camp staff resides in the dormitories in adjacent rooms to the campers and provides supervision throughout the camp. The camp utilizes UCSB Recreation Center Pool as its training facility.

SUMMER DAY CAMP (9:00AM – 4:00PM)

The Nike Swim Camp at University of California, Santa Barbara also offers a day camp program for campers who do not wish to stay overnight. This option includes instruction and daytime activities only. The schedule is modified on the first and last days of camp.

PARENT/CAMPER SEMINARS

Both campers and parents are invited to join us from 6:30-7:30pm on Nights 2 & 3 of camp at Las Encinas Quad for-evening seminars. Seminar topics will include college recruiting, expectations of a collegiate athlete, how to choose the right school, and more. We also offer opportunities for Q&A with each panel of coaches.

2025 HOUSING
  • Dorm: Manzanita Village Residence Hall
  • Number of Campers Per Room: 2 per room
  • Roommates: Rooms are assigned by age & roommate requests. Roommate requests must be mutual and received no later than 14 days before the start of camp. If you don't have a roommate request, you will be placed in a room with someone near your age. It will be a great opportunity to meet someone new!
  • Bathrooms: Shared
  • Linens: Not included. Bring linens or sleeping bag, pillow, pillowcase, and a towel.
  • Air Conditioning: None. Campers are in their dorms for very limited hours during the daytime and nightly temperatures are typically mild. However, campers are welcome to bring a small fan.

SUPERVISION
The staff reside in the dormitories with the campers and participate in all activities. Drugs, alcohol and tobacco are strictly prohibited, and constitute, along with general misconduct, grounds for dismissal from camp without a refund.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?
  • Instruction: Morning, afternoon, and evening training sessions
  • Overnight campers: Dormitory housing on campus and all meals are provided.
  • Day campers: Dinner provided on Thursday; Lunch is provided Friday and Saturday.
  • Supervision: Staff members reside in campers’ quarters and participate in all activities.
  • Camp T-shirt & Prizes: Campers at multi-day camps will receive a Nike Swim Camps t-shirt and prizes.
INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT & FACILITY
  • Ratio: 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio
  • Groupings: Campers are grouped by age, ability, and experience per the director's discretion.
  • Equipment Needed: Please bring your water swimsuit, swim cap, goggles and towel(s)
  • Facility: UC Santa Barbara Pool
  • Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

OVERNIGHT CAMPERS
  • Check-in: On the first day of camp, check-in will be between 7:30-8:00am
  • Check-in Location: Las Encinas Quad
    • After overnight campers check in, parents and campers will receive their room and access cards and store their luggage in their assigned room.
    • Campers should arrive at check-in dressed in their athletic apparel and ready to train.
  • Check out: Following the closing ceremony at 3:30pm at Las Encinas Quad
  • Meals: Day 1: Lunch, Dinner | Days 2-3: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner | Day 4: Breakfast, Lunch
  • Room Key Deposit: Please bring a $60 check made out to “Next Athletes, LLC”
  • Closing Ceremony: The closing ceremony will take place at Las Encinas Quad. Parents are invited to attend! Campers and parents will depart following the closing ceremony.
  • Parking (Overnight Campers): Parents can pay to park in Parking lot 22 for drop-off and pick-up.

  • Thursday: 9:00am-3:30pm. Check-out is following the 3:30pm closing ceremony. Meals are not provided.
  • The closing ceremony will take place at Las Encinas Quad. Parents are invited to attend! Campers and parents will depart following the closing ceremony.
  • Meals: Day campers are required to bring their own lunch daily.

Checklist of Things to Bring: We recommend that all Day Campers bring a daily pack with the following items: swimsuit, swim cap, goggles, towel, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, sandals, water bottle, dry land gear (running shoes, t-shirt, athletic shorts, sweatshirt) and any other appropriate clothing for that day’s activities which will be described to you on the first day of camp.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from camp. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.

Upon arrival at camp at Wingate, campers are placed in groups with other swimmers having similar abilities and goals. Our camp staff will do their best to accommodate your needs, keeping in consideration your experience and desire to improve.
