at Nike Tennis Camps

Nike Tennis Camps is excited to offer the 2026 Girls Tennis Showcase Camp at Mount Holyoke College! Designed for high school girls aspiring to play college tennis, this showcase allows athletes to explore the college tennis experience while improving both singles and doubles skills.

Join the coaches from Amherst College and Smith College for a weekend of camaraderie, teamwork, and college-style drills and coaching. The program will be directed by Amherst Head Coach Jackie Bagwell, alongside Assistant Coach Ross Silverberg, and assisted by Smith Head Coach Caitlyn Lawrence.

Part of the Five College Consortium — which includes Amherst College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, University of Massachusetts Amherst, and Hampshire College — this unique event gives players the opportunity to experience college-level drills, match-play coaching, and team expectations while living a weekend in the life of a collegiate tennis player. Campers will be based at Mount Holyoke and travel to both Amherst and Smith for added campus experience.

    Since taking the reins in 1991, Head Coach Jackie Bagwell has established the Amherst College women's tennis program among the elite in NCAA Division III, capturing the NCAA Division III national championship in 1999 and coaching Amherst student-athletes to two singles national championships and six doubles national championships.

    Bagwell has amassed 475 dual match wins in her career, third-most among active Division III head coaches, with 449 of those wins coming in her 31 seasons at Amherst. She ranks among the all-time top 10 in both wins and winning percentage in Division III history. Bagwell has led the team to 15 or more wins in 18 campaigns and her teams have posted 20-win seasons on five occasions.

    The Kokomo, Indiana, native led the Purple & White to Amherst's first NCAA national championship in any sport as her 1999 squad capped a perfect 19-0 season with a 5-2 win over arch-rival Williams in the national championship match. Bagwell's squads have reached at least the quarterfinals in 24 of the last 27 NCAA Division III Tournaments, including 15 trips to the semifinals, with five national runner-up finishes and four third-place finishes. Since the NESCAC began crowning a conference champion in 2001, Bagwell's teams have captured nine NESCAC titles.

    Bagwell’s squads produced back-to-back national singles champions in 1999 and 2000 and have been even more successful in doubles action, taking home the NCAA title on six occasions (2007, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014). Amherst's six doubles championships are more than any other school in Division III history. Bagwell coached Jordan Brewer '14 and Gabby Devlin '14 as they became the only doubles pair in Division III history to win three national championships and Devlin became only the second woman to win four Division III doubles titles. A total of 26 Amherst student-athletes have earned 62 All-America selections during Bagwell's tenure.

    Bagwell earned Boston Area Coach of the Year honors at the annual Boston Sports Awards in September of 2000, going up against former Boston Red Sox manager Jimy Williams and former Boston Bruins head coach Pat Burns — among others — for the honor. Bagwell was named the 2007 and 2014 NESCAC Coach of the Year, and in 2011 she was honored as the ITA's Northeast Coach of the Year.

    As an undergrad, Bagwell spent three seasons at Columbus College before transferring to the University of Texas–Permian Basin, where she helped lead the Falcons to an NAIA National Tournament appearance. She graduated from the University of Indiana in 1986 with a degree in history/physical education and worked as a teaching pro at the Jimmy Connors United States Tennis Center in Florida. Prior to moving to Amherst, Bagwell spent three seasons coaching tennis and squash at Hamilton College.

    After not competing in the 2020 or 2021 season due to COVID-19, Lawrence led the Pioneers to their most winningest season in over a decade in the 2022 spring season. In addition to her coaching commitments at Smith, Lawrence is one of the founding members of the Smith Athletics Equity and Inclusion Council.

    Before her time at Smith, Lawrence was the head coach for both the Men's and Women's tennis programs at Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY. While at Hartwick, on the women's side she coached three Empire-8 all-conference singles team selections and Hartwick's first Empire 8 Player of the Year. On the men's side, she led them to their first conference appearance in almost a decade and tied the team's 1988 record for most wins in a season.

    Lawrence served as the Director of Summer Programs and a coach at Simcoe Tennis in Ontario, Canada. From 2007 to 2015, she coached high-performance junior teams and worked with athletes who have competed at the NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III levels. Her work with the program played an integral role in the creation and development of junior leagues that mirrored the college format, giving juniors the opportunity to prepare for the college student-athlete experience.

    Ross Silverberg is set to begin his first season with the Amherst College women’s tennis program in 2025-26.

    Ross comes to Amherst after serving as the Assistant Coach for Swarthmore College for the past two seasons. In the 2024-2025 season, Swarthmore won the Centennial Conference title for the first time since 2006. The team also reached the second round in the NCAA National Championships, which was its first NCAA appearance since 2007. Silverberg helped guide Swarthmore to a program-record seven selections to the All-Centennial Team. For these efforts, Silverberg was a recipient of the 2025 Centennial Conference Coaching Staff of the Year alongside Coach Loomis and was elevated to Associate Head Coach.

    In his first season with the team, Swarthmore achieved a top-20 national ranking and reached the Centennial Conference Championship. Six individual players earned all-centennial recognition, including selections in First Team singles and doubles. The first doubles pairing qualified for the NCAA National Championships and ten individuals earned Academic Honor Roll.

    Prior to joining Swarthmore, Ross coached the Cherry Hill High School East Boys Tennis team. In that role, Ross led the team to a top-10 state ranking and winning the South Jersey Group IV Title. Ross has coached numerous players competing collegiately and has also instructed at the University of Pennsylvania Tennis Center, Philadelphia Country Club, Loomis Racquet Academy, and Berlin Voorhees Tennis Center. In the summer of 2025, Ross became Founder & Director of the Haddon Township Summer Tennis Camp.

    Ross graduated from Franklin and Marshall College (F&M) in 2013, majoring in Government and minoring in Economics. He was the #1 singles and doubles player for the Diplomats and team captain. Additionally, he was one of only two Centennial Conference (CC) Player of the Year award winners in program history. He earned All-CC First Team honors on three occasions – which made him just the 15th in CC history to accomplish that feat at the time. Silverberg totaled seven All-CC accolades in his career with four singles awards and three doubles honors. He is tied for the F&M career leader in wins with a 66-22 record, while his 20-9 mark in 2013 is tied for the Diplomats' single-season record.

    After graduating from F&M, Ross earned a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center and then completed a Masters in Education from Rutgers University. Ross has practiced law and taught Social Studies for multiple years.

CAMP PROGRAM INFORMATION

  • Camp Type(s) Offered: Full Day (Friday 2:45pm-9:00pm, Saturday 8:55am-9:00pm, & Sunday 8:55am-12:00pm) & Overnight
  • Gender: Girls Only
  • Age Range: 13-18
  • Skill Level: Advanced

The program tuition includes 13+ hours of education, instruction, competition, and guaranteed exposure to every coach. All meals are included, starting with dinner on the first day and ending with breakfast on the last day. The staff will provide supervision of participants during the scheduled camp hours. Drugs, alcohol, and tobacco are strictly prohibited, and constitute, along with general misconduct, grounds for dismissal from camp without a refund.

SKILL LEVELS & GROUP PLACEMENT

Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week. Campers are then sorted by ability first, then age per the Camp Director's discretion - adjustments are made as needed during camp.

While there are many ways to define skill levels, the following descriptions are what the Camp Directors at Nike Tennis Camps will use to organize and group camp participants. At the time of registration, please choose the level that best represents your athlete's experience:

  • Intermediate: Players who can serve and sustain rallies with consistency. They are comfortable hitting medium-paced shots but may struggle with all strokes and directional control. Some may have participated in local tournaments and possess a UTR rating or are equivalent to a High School JV player.

  • Advanced: Players with dependable strokes and solid directional control. They demonstrate a strong competitive spirit, improved court coverage, and are developing strategies for both singles and doubles play. These players frequently compete in tournaments and have a USTA or UTR rating, or are equivalent to a High School Varsity player.

  • Overnight Camper Check-in: Overnight campers check in Friday between 1:00pm-2:00pm
  • Day Camper Check-in: Day Campers check in Friday between 2:00pm-2:30pm
  • Check-out: All campers check out Sunday at 12:00pm

    • 11:45am-1:15pm: Optional trip to Amherst Center, lunch, and free time
    • 1:30pm-4:45pm: Match strategy session including singles and doubles
    • 5:00pm-6:30pm: Dinner
    • 7:00pm-9:00pm: Lectures, discussions, etc.
    • 9:00pm: Day campers depart
    • 9:00pm-10:30pm: Free time

Campers will be on campus at Mt. Holyoke College for the duration of camp except for Saturday. Saturday's on-court tennis time will be hosted at Amherst College.

MASSACHUSETTS CAMP FORMS

In addition to US Sports Camps' online forms, the following required documents MUST be brought to camp on the first day. Campers will not be permitted without the below documents.

  • Physical Exam: Physician’s signature required. A physical exam performed within the last 18 months that is signed by your camper's physician is required and must be brought to camp on the first day.
  • Prescription Medication Record Form: Required only if the camper will be using prescriptions during camp. Please print this form and bring this to camp on the first day. This form can be found in the portal.
  • Immunization Certificate: Immunization records must be submitted in the form of an “Immunization Certificate." This can be provided by your camper's physician. This must be brought to camp on the first day.

HOUSING

  • Dorm Hall: Torrey Hall
  • Dorm Location: Torrey Hall is located at Park Street South Hadley.
  • Number of Campers per Room: Singles, Doubles, and Triples are available
  • Roommates: Rooms are assigned by age & roommate requests. Roommate requests must be mutual and received no later than 14 days before the start of camp. If you don't have a roommate request, you will be placed in a room with someone near your age. It will be a great opportunity to meet someone new!
  • Linens: Bed linens are NOT provided. We suggest bringing a pillow, pillow case, Twin sized sheets and/or a sleeping bag and a light blanket.
  • Air Conditioning: The dorms do NOT have A/C, but they do stay relatively comfortable. Campers are encouraged to bring a fan or portable air conditioner.

CANCELLATION POLICIES *PLEASE READ CAREFULLY*

These policies are in place to account for camp fees associated with each registration that is made in advance of the program. Camper waives any and all damages that may otherwise arise out of any camp cancellation and agrees to accept as liquidated damages said registration fees.

OVERNIGHT CAMPER CANCELLATION POLICY:
  • If you need to cancel for any reason up until 14 days prior to camp check-in, you will receive a camp credit voucher for 100% of tuition fees paid.
  • If you need to cancel from 1-13 days prior to camp check-in, you will receive a camp credit voucher for 50% of tuition fees paid.
DAY CAMPER CANCELLATION POLICY:
  • This policy applies to all non-overnight campers and clinic participants. If you need to cancel for any reason up until 24 hours prior to camp check-in, you will receive a camp credit voucher for tuition fees paid.
ALL CAMPER CANCELLATION POLICY (within 24 hours):
  • After the 24-hour cancellation window has expired, no refunds or vouchers for camp fees paid will be issued for voluntary withdrawal, schedule conflicts, or behavioral dismissal.
  • Participants who DO NOT attend their registered session (no-shows for any reason) or who do not contact USSC to cancel at least 24 hours prior to camp check-in will not receive any voucher or refund.
  • Vouchers will be considered for cancellations due to family emergencies, illness, or injury upon receipt of required documentation such as physician's notes, medical records, etc.
VOUCHER REDEMPTION & REFUNDS:
  • If you need to cancel for any reason up to 24 hours before camp check-in, you will receive a camp credit voucher for the tuition fees paid, valid for one year for any sport and transferable to any immediate family member. Please note that participants who do not attend their registered session (no-shows) or fail to notify USSC at least 24 hours prior to check-in will not receive a voucher or refund.
  • Refunds are available only if the Cancellation Protection was purchased at the time of registration and the cancellation is made before your payment due date (1st of the month prior to your camp start date).
  • The voucher is good through the following year for any sport camp with available capacity and is transferable to any immediate family member.
CANCELLATION PROTECTION:
  • US Sports Camps offers our camp families Cancellation Protection for $100 per session, due at the time of registration. Cancellation Protection entitles you to a full refund of your camp tuition fees paid to date if you cancel for any reason before your final payment date (the first day of the month prior to the month of your camp start date, i.e., final pay date is May 1st if your camp date begins in the month of June). Please note: $100 Cancellation Protection and Registration Fee are non-refundable.
  • With Cancellation Protection, if you cancel after your final payment due date and at least 24 hours prior to camp check-in, you will receive a camp credit voucher good through the following year that is transferable to any immediate family member and may be used for any sport.

*Cancellation Protection is not available for any Stanford Camp. Please call for details.

Cancellation Due to Inclement Weather
  • In the event a camp day is cancelled or camp hours are adjusted due to inclement weather, we will make every effort to provide make-up time. If make-up time is not possible, no refund will be issued for the first cancelled day or any shortened hours. If additional full days are cancelled and cannot be rescheduled, a pro-rated camp credit voucher will be issued for each cancelled day beyond the first.

ACCOMMODATIONS & TRAVEL

  • Housing is ONLY included in the camp tuition cost for Overnight Campers only. All other campers are responsible for arranging their own overnight accommodations if needed.
  • Nike Tennis Camp does not provide any transportation to/from camp from the airport, train stations, or bus depots.
  • US Sports Camps, the Camp Director, camp staff, and the host facility are not liable for any travel-related arrangements, including but not limited to flights, hotels, Airbnbs, or rental cars.
  • We recommend booking refundable or flexible travel and accommodation options in case of any changes to the camp schedule.
  • If you fly into camp, we recommend that you fly into Bradley Airport in Hartford, CT.
    • Uber and other ride-sharing options may be available for you to order on your own.
