Join Jim Somerville and his expert staff in Northern California at Monterey Bay Racquet Club for an action-packed week of tennis.
Our junior tennis camp near Pebble Beach is designed for boys and girls to improve their tennis game, work hard, make new friends and have a lot of fun. Camp is led by an Evert Tennis Academy alumni who has experience going through the junior program. We also have Jim Somerville who notably, was the former coach of 2023 D1 NCAA Champion Ethan Quinn.

Coach Jim Somerville
Meet Jim Somerville, a graduate of the University of Hawaii with a degree in Travel Industry Management, renowned for his prowess in tennis and passion for pickleball. With an ATP singles ranking of 778 and doubles ranking of 445, Jim's journey includes being #1 Open singles player in Hawaii and the #2 18 and under singles player.

Camp Director Javier Vargas
Javi, a Monterey native, excels in tennis and pickleball, both coaching and competing at high levels. He began at the Monterey Tennis Center and the Hyatt Regency, igniting his passion.

- June 10-13
- June 24-27
- July 15-18
CAMP PROGRAM
Camp is geared towards adult players of all levels. Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week. Camp includes drills, match play and personal evaluations.
We offer junior day camps that run Monday-Friday for boys and girls, of all ability levels, ages 8-18.
CAMP SCHEDULE
- Check-in: Campers check in on Monday at 9:00am at the tennis courts
- Check-out: Campers check out on Friday at 4:00pm at the tennis courts.
- Day Camper Schedule: Monday-Friday 9:00am-4:00pm
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?
- Instruction: Daily tennis training from USPTA Certified Pros, morning and afternoon sessions
- Supervision: Staff members participate in all activities
- Camp T-shirt: All campers receive a Nike Tennis Camps t-shirt!
MEALS
- Lunch: Campers bring their own lunch and snacks each day and lunch is supervised. Lunch will run from around 12:00mp-1:00pm with water breaks throughout the day.
INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT, & FACILITY
- Ratio: 6:1 camper-to-coach ratio
- Groupings: Campers are grouped by age, ability, and experience
- Equipment Needed: All campers must bring a tennis racquet, tennis shoes, and a water bottle
- Facility: Campers utilize Monterey Bay Racquet Club's outdoor tennis courts
- Inclement Weather Plan: Coaches will communicate any changes in plans with campers directly
- Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital
