Our 3-day camp is open to intermediate, and advanced players ages 18+. The expert coaching staff at Pinehurst are committed to helping players develop essential tennis skills, refine their technique, and improve their point-play strategies.

    Kevin Criscoe

    Camp Director

    Kevin Criscoe is a Moore County native. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Business with concentration in Professional Tennis Management from Methodist University in 2004 where he also played varsity tennis. After beginning his career at Pinehurst as Head Tennis Professional in 2006, he went on to complete his Master’s in Business Administration in 2009, also from Methodist University.

    Kevin Criscoe

    Camp Director

    Kevin completed the USTA High Performance Coaching program at Chris Evert Tennis Academy in Boca Rotan, Florida in 2013, earning him the distinction of Specialist in Competitive Player Development. He is a certified USPTA Elite Professional, PTR Professional with designations in 10 & under, 11 to 17, and Adult Development and most recently he is a certified PPR Professional in Pickleball. He enjoys continuing to expand his skills and knowledge adding North Carolina Real Estate licensure to his list of accomplishments. Kevin’s positive, upbeat attitude and energy have earned him a loyal following over his 16 years at Pinehurst Resort.

    Matt Downing is a native to the Pinehurst area. He attended Sandhill’s Community College and was a player on the school’s first Men’s tennis team. After completing his studies at Sandhills, Matt started his tennis professional career at the Lawn & Tennis Club of N.C., where he spent four years. In 1995, he became Head Tennis Professional at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club.

    In his first eight years with Pinehurst, Matt was in charge of junior programming and assisted the Director of Tennis with club & resort activities. In 2003, he became the Director of Tennis and is responsible for all member and resort programming. In addition to managing the tennis operation, he also oversees pickleball, croquet, lawn bowls, and fitness center operations. He, along with the Pinehurst tennis staff, host events such as the USTA Men’s National Clay Court Championships, USTA Boy’s & Girl’s Zonal Team Championships, the USTA Adult State League Championships, and various resort tennis events. Matt is a 24 year USPTA certified Professional, and holds PTR Professional distinctions in both 10 & under, and 11 to 17 tennis education.

    Keith Criscoe is an RSPA Certified Elite Professional and PPR Certified Professional with over 20 years of experience in the racquet industry. He was a standout collegiate player at Methodist University where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business with a concentration in Professional Tennis Management. Most recently, Keith served as the Head Tennis Professional at the Country Club of North Carolina (CCNC). He has also held positions as the Director of Tennis at National Golf Club and the Head Men’s Tennis Coach at Methodist University.

CAMP PROGRAM INFORMATION

  • Camp Type(s) Offered: 3 Day Camp (Friday 3:00pm-5:30pm, Saturday 11:00am-1:00pm, 3:00pm-5:00pm, & Sunday 9:00am-11:00am)
  • Gender: Coed
  • Age Range: 18+
  • Skill Level: Intermediate & Advanced

SKILL LEVELS & GROUP PLACEMENT

Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week. Participants are then sorted by ability first, then age per the Camp Director's discretion - adjustments are made as needed during camp.

While there are many ways to define skill levels, the following descriptions are what the Camp Directors at Nike Tennis Camps will use to organize and group camp participants. At the time of registration, please choose the level that best represents your experience:

  • Intermediate: Players who can serve and maintain rallies with some consistency. They are fairly reliable with medium-paced shots but may struggle with certain strokes and lack precision in directional control and power. Generally play recreationally at their local club. USTA rating of 2.5-3.0.

  • Advanced: Players with dependable strokes and strong directional control. They display an all-around competitive spirit, improved court coverage, and are developing strategies for both singles and doubles play. These players compete regularly at local clubs or travel to participate in USTA tournaments. USTA rating of 3.5 and above.

CAMP CHECK-IN/OUT

  • Check-In: All campers check in on Friday 3:00pm-3:30pm at the tennis courts
  • Check Out: All campers check out on Sunday at 11:00am at the tennis courts

DAILY CAMP SCHEDULE

  • Friday (3:00pm-5:30pm)
    • 3:00pm - 3:30pm: Check-In at the tennis courts
    • 3:30pm-5:30pm: Technical skill work and player assessments
  • Saturday (11:00am - 1:00pm, 3:00pm-5:00pm)
    • 11:00am-1:00pm: Live ball drills focused on strategy, decision making, and positioning
    • 3:00pm-5:00pm: Competitive games, integrating technical skills and strategy under pressure
  • Sunday (9:00am-10:00am, 10:00am-11:00am)
    • 9:00am-10:00am: Recap, specialty shots, serving
    • 10:00am-11:00am: Final competitions, one on one assessments, drills and work to take home

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?

  • Welcome Package: All campers receive a Nike Tennis Camps t-shirt
  • Instruction: 8 hours of court time including instruction and match play

MEALS

  • Meals are NOT included in the camp tuition. Participants should bring their own lunch and water each day.
  • Pinehurst Resort has multiple food venues available to campers

EQUIPMENT, FACILITY & MORE

  • Equipment Needed: All campers must bring a tennis racquet, tennis shoes, and athletic apparel
  • Facility: Pinehurst Resort & Country Club's world-class tennis center's 10 clay tennis courts
  • Medical Protocol: In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital

EQUIPMENT, FACILITY & MORE

  • Equipment Needed: All campers must bring a tennis racquet, tennis shoes, and a water bottle
  • Facility: 10 outdoor pristine clay courts
  • Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital

CANCELLATION POLICY

  • Cancellations made at least 7 days before the camp start date will result in a camp voucher for the full amount of tuition paid, valid through the following calendar year. This voucher is transferable to any family member and can be used for any sport.
  • Cash refunds will only be issued if Cancellation Protection was purchased at the time of registration.
  • Cancellations made within 7 days of the camp start date will receive a camp voucher for 50% of the tuition
  • No-shows (individuals who do not attend their registered session) will forfeit the full tuition payment.

ACCOMMODATIONS & TRAVEL

  • This is a Day Camp only; housing is NOT included in the camp tuition. Campers are responsible for arranging their own overnight accommodations if needed.
  • US Sports Camps, the Camp Director, camp staff, and the host facility are not liable for any travel-related arrangements, including but not limited to flights, hotels, Airbnbs, or rental cars.
  • We recommend booking refundable or flexible travel and accommodation options in case of any changes to the camp schedule.
