We are excited to bring Nike Tennis Camps to Otterbein University in 2024!
Camp will be led by Peter Burling, long-time Nike Tennis Camp Director and former Head Men's Tennis Coach at Denison University. With Coach Burling's 'best strategy is good strokes' approach, you can expect this Midwest tennis camp to deliver top-notch technical instruction. Players will have the opportunity to learn in a healthy environment where they can hit tons of balls, improve their game, and create lasting friendships.
This camp is geared towards campers ages 8-18 looking to advance their play. Camp includes instruction and drilling from expert coaches, fun competitive games, and supervised match play.

Camp Director Peter Burling
Longtime Denison University tennis coach Peter Burling has announced his retirement after leading the men's and women's programs to unprecedented success over the last three decades. The two-time National Coach of the Year leaves Denison as the winningest coach in school history, across all sports, with a career record of 734-329 (.690).

2024 CAMP DATES
- June 16-21 (All Skills & Tournament Training)
- June 23-28 (All Skills & Tournament Training)
- July 21-26 (High School Pre-Season Prep Tennis Camp - Girls Only)
CAMP PROGRAMS
We offer Day Camp (8:45am-4:30pm) programs for boys and girls, ages 8-18, with All Skills and Tournament Training programs, plus a High School Pre-Season Prep Tennis Camp for girls only.
- All Skills Program: The All Skills program is designed for tennis players of any skill level and background. Campers will learn fundamentals and improve upon their game.
- Tournament Training: We are hosting a Tournament Training session geared towards tournament-level and ranked players, ages 9-18, looking to improve their tournament results, learn winning strategies, and work on mental toughness.
- High School Prep Camp: We are hosting a Preseason High School Training session for girls ages 13-18 who are currently on their high school team and want to move up the ladder, or those planning on making their high school team.
CAMP SCHEDULE
- Check-in: Between 2:00pm-3:00pm at the tennis courts. All campers will depart that evening at 5:30pm
- Check-out: Graduation is at 4:30pm on Friday at the tennis courts, parents are invited to attend! Check-out immediately follows graduation.
- Day Camp Program: Sunday 2:00pm-5:30pm, Monday-Friday 8:45am-4:30pm
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?
- Instruction: Daily tennis training, morning and afternoon session
- Supervision: Staff members provide optimal supervision and participate in all activities
- Camp T-shirt & Prizes: All campers receive a Nike Sports Camp t-shirt and prizes
MEALS
- Lunch is NOT included. Campers will need to bring their own lunch and snacks each day.
INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT, & FACILITY
- Ratio: 5:1 camper-to-coach ratio
- Groupings: Campers are grouped by age, ability, and experience
- Equipment Needed: All campers must bring a tennis racquet, tennis shoes, and a water bottle
- Facility: Richard A. Sanders Tennis Courts. The Richard A. Sanders Tennis Courts are home to both the Otterbein men's and women's tennis teams, which compete as traditional spring sports and play a handful of matches throughout the fall. The fenced-in area houses six courts, with seating for fans available as you walk up and a large hill on the opposite end that also provides a good vantage point.
- Inclement Weather Plan: Indoor courts are available for use as needed
- Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital
