Q&A Olympic Gold medalist Deedee Trotter
Q1: Deedee you are the new co- camp director for the Atlanta Track Stars camp which is a part of the Clark family running camp series. What made you decide to collaborate with Clark Family Running Camps founder three-time Olympian Hazel Clark on this camp?
A1: Hazel and I are best friends, we met when we were both training in Knoxville, Tennessee. We have made multiple national and Olympic teams together and traveled the world while competing. Both of us have served as ambassadors of our sport and implemented numerous community programs. This project makes sense because we love working together and are really passionate about developing the next generation of track stars.
Q2: You are a product of Atlanta and have recently returned home. What brought you back?
A2: Yes, I attended Cedar Bridge high school and discovered track in Atlanta. I never would have guessed I would go on to win multiple Olympic medals. So many helped me to get where I am. It’s my responsibility to pass on the things I have learned. This camp and my clinics really give me a chance to inspire and teach our future stars.
Q3: Can you give us a little glimpse of what campers can expect at the Atlanta track stars camp?
A3: Absolutely! Campers can expect top notch coaching from world class coaches and renowned Olympians. They will be teaching our campers how to be champions in all aspects of life. It’s important for us to make sure our campers have the knowledge to be their best in anything they do. We also want them to have a lot of fun and leave with amazing memories.
Q4: Is there anything else you want to add?
A4: Yes, I wish I had an opportunity to work with some of the world’s best track and field athletes when I was in high school. To be the best you should learn from the best. We have an amazing staff and unique and effective camp platform. I want to encourage parents to provide this awesome opportunity to their kids! This goes beyond athletics, we are going to provide them with tools to win the Gold medal of life regardless of the lane they end up in.
