Join us this summer at the Nike Track and Field Camp at Lake Forest Academy, where athletes of all levels can take their training to the next level with expert coaching and a dynamic learning environment. Our experienced staff provides in-depth instruction across multiple disciplines, helping campers improve technique, build confidence, and gain a deeper understanding of the sport.

Whether you're looking to improve your fundamentals or sharpen your competitive edge, this camp offers a fun, focused, and supportive atmosphere to help you reach your goals—on and off the track.

This is a day camp where housing is not offered.

    Camp Director & Organizer

    Coach Golota is the current head coach and founder of the Lake Forest Vikings. He was the head coach for boys and girls track and field at Lake Forest Academy for 8 years. He is currently a hurdle coach at Grayslake Central HS. His accomplishments are listed below.

    As a Coach:

    In the 3 years of the Lake Forest Vikings existence, his club has produced 2 All-Americans, 11 National Qualifiers, 2 Regional Champions, 20 Regional Qualifiers, 2 Illinois Association Champions. Under his coaching at Lake Forest Academy, the 4x100, 200, 400, and 800 records have been broken outdoors. He also started a competitive indoor track program at LFA. He has had runners go D1 and D3 in his time as head coach. Coach Golota has been coaching for 10 years.

    As an Athlete:

    • Former record holder for the freshman 55 high hurdles.
    • 7th in the indoor state meet for the 55 high hurdles.
    • Conference Champion in the 110m Hurdles.
    • Collegiate hurdler at North Central College, earning 6th at Conference during his freshman year.
    • 2nd on the all-time top ten list for the indoor 55 High hurdles.
    • 2nd on the all-time top ten list for the indoor 55 Intermediate hurdles.

    Co-Director

    Tanika Golota brings a wealth of athletic and coaching experience to this Nike Sports Camp. She has worked with athletes across all levels, from youth and high school athletes to developing programs for adult Special Olympics participants.

    At Lake Forest Academy, Tanika serves as the Director of Auxiliary Programs and Asst. Varsity Volleyball Coach, where she oversees and expands youth camp offerings, combining her passion for sports with her commitment to athlete development.

    Strength and Agility Coach

    As a professional athlete in the NFL, Danny is known for his ferocious energy on the field and leadership skills.

    Danny Trevathan’s NFL accolades and career highlights:

    • Super Bowl Champion (50) – Starting linebacker for the Denver Broncos in their 24–10 victory over the Carolina Panthers (2016). He led the team with 8 tackles in the game.
    • Denver Broncos leading tackler (2013 & 2015) – emerged as one of the anchors of their defense.
    • Chicago Bears defensive leader (2016–2021) – team captain and veteran presence during his six seasons in Chicago.
    • Career stats (2012–2021): 740 total tackles, 35 tackles for loss, 9 sacks, 8 interceptions, 5 forced fumbles, and 3 defensive touchdowns.
    • Known for his sideline-to-sideline speed, coverage ability, and leadership in both Denver and Chicago.

    Danny had an incredible collegiate career, recently being inducted into the University of Kentucky Hall of Fame in 2025.

    University of Kentucky (2008–2011):

    • Two-time First-Team All-SEC (2010, 2011)
    • SEC-leading tackler (2010 & 2011) – led the conference in tackles in back-to-back seasons
    • National Top-10 in tackles (2010) – finished 10th in the FBS with 144 total tackles
    • Team Captain (2011) – recognized as a leader on and off the field
    • First-Team All-American (2011) by Pro Football Weekly
    • Finalist for the Butkus Award (2011) – given to the nation’s top linebacker

    Career totals at Kentucky: 374 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, 11 forced fumbles, and 5 interceptions

    Jumps Coach

    Coach Stevens has been coaching jumps at Latin HS and is the current Long Jump and Triple Jump coach for the Lake Forest Vikings. He has produced numerous regional and national qualifiers, as well as an All-American.

    • 3 Time OVC All-Conference Athlete
    • 2 Time NCAA D1 Qualifer
    • 2018 was Ranked 12th in the Region and 25th in Division 1 for Triple Jump
    • Career best 52'4" in the Triple Jump
    • Career best 25'1" in the Long Jump
    • African Cup of Nations Qualifier in 2021

This camp program focuses on track and field fundamentals including technical event-specific drills, stretching, and speed and core strength exercises.

2026 OVERVIEW

  • Dates: June 22-26, 2026 (Mon-Fri)
  • Ages: 10-18

  • Schedule:
    • Full Day:
      • Monday-Thursday: 9 AM-3 PM
      • Half-day Friday (Mock Track Meet): 9 AM-12 PM
    • Half Day: Monday-Friday: 9 AM-12 PM
  • Check-in: 15 minutes prior to camp start time
  • Meals: Lunch is not provided. Campers should bring their own lunch, water and snacks.

INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT & FACILITY

  • Ratio: 1:10 staff to camper ratio
  • Grouped by: age, ability and experience
  • Evaluation: by coaching staff
  • Equipment Needed: Campers should bring at least one pair of broken in running shoes. Event shoes/spikes are recommended but not required. Please be sure to properly mark your equipment, so that it can be easily identified.

CHECKLIST OF THINGS TO BRING:

Below is a suggested list of clothes, equipment and personal items. US Sports Camps is NOT responsible for lost or stolen articles or money.

ALL CAMPERS:

  • Extra Athletic clothing
  • 1-2 pairs of broken in running shoes/ event spikes
  • Non-running shoes
  • Water bottle
  • Sunblock
  • Packed lunch and snacks
  • Small gym bag/backpack

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

CAMP TUITION PAYMENTS

Full payment of camp fees must be completed by the first day of the month before camp. For example:

  • June Camps: final payment is due on May 1
  • July Camps: final payment is due on June 1
  • August Camps: final payment is due on July 1

Any camper with an unpaid balance 10 days before the start of their camp will forfeit all camp fees paid to date and be removed from the camp.

Your confirmation email shows your balance due and balance due date. Final payments can be made through the US Sports Camps Customer Portal or by phone at 1-800-645-3226.

BEHAVIOR POLICIES

We may ask campers who require 1×1 supervision, disrupt the camp experience, or threaten the safety of themselves or others to leave camp. Behaviors meriting expulsion include, but are not limited to: a cause or threat of violence, putting themselves or others in danger, possession of a weapon, possession or use of alcohol, tobacco, nicotine, drugs or illegal substance, robbery, damage to property, sexual misconduct or assault, harassment, hazing, racist remarks or acts, or intimidation. In those cases, we will contact a parent to pick up the child immediately. We do not issue refunds to campers who are asked to leave camp.
