Director and Staff Clearance to Work with Youth

Ankored is the 3rd party camp safety & compliance software utilized by US Sports Camps Operators.

All staff members must complete all requirements two weeks before camp.

Camp Operators oversee staff completion and respond to any flags arising from the staff's criminal history.

STEP 1 - Activate Your 2025 Ankored Account:
STEP 2 - Choose Your Profile View:

After setting up your account, you'll be prompted to select a profile type. As a Camp Operator, you'll have two permission levels:

  • Camp Operator Onboarding Profile – for completing your personal requirements that USSC can see.
  • Staff Compliance Operator Profile – for managing staff requirements that only you and "Director" roles can view.
Step 3: Complete Your Requirements

Launch the Camp Operator Onboarding profile. You’ll land on a Requirements Page showing tasks you must complete (e.g., background checks, abuse prevention training, code of conduct). Requirements vary by state (e.g., CA, MA, PA), and are automatically assigned based on your state of operation.

  • 2025 Camp Director/Operator Guidelines
  • Youth Sports Sexual Abuse Awareness Training ($3)
  • U.S. National Background Check* ($10.50)

*Proof of a cleared background check can be submitted through one of the following options, which should be determined based on your state’s specific requirements.

  • JDP National Background Check through Ankored, which includes a National Criminal Background Check, Nationwide Sex Offender Search, State Criminal Search, Federal Criminal Search, and a County Search.

  • Massachusetts Camps Only: Upload proof of a CORI/SORI background check

  • Pennsylvania Camps Only: Upload proof of a Fingerprint Check. Click Here to Find a PA Fingerprint Check Location.

  • California Camps Only: Staff will attain Live Scan service, ensuring the employer's ORI number is on the application. Staff will upload a scan of their completed "Live Scan Request Form." Operator will mark this upload complete in Ankored.
    If you are completing the Live Scan service, there is no need for the JDP Background Check.

  • 3rd Party Background Check: Upload proof of background check completed and passed within the past 12 months, which meets the same criteria as the JDP background check listed above.

STEP 4 - Switch to Staff Compliance Operator Profile

To add/manage staff, use the dropdown menu in the top right corner and switch to your Staff Compliance Operator Profile. This profile allows you to manage your camp team’s compliance, but does not contain your personal requirements.

STEP 5 - Add Staff to Your Camp Site
  • Navigate back to your camp Group Dashboard.
  • Click Add Members > Quick Add.
  • Enter your staff's email addresses (can add multiple at once).
  • Assign correct roles:
    • Director – Can add staff and review documents.
    • Staff - State CA/PA/MA – Assign based on your camp’s location.
  • Click Submit. Staff will receive an email from [email protected] to activate their accounts and start compliance.
STEP 6 - Monitor Your Staff Progress and Any Criminal History Flags:
  • If documents are uploaded by staff, you’ll: See a pop-up box when logging in, and notice a pulsating bell icon in the top right corner of your screen. Click the bell to review and approve uploads.
  • Directors also have this ability. From your Ankored Operator account, you will be able to monitor your staff member's progress in completing their requirements. Send reminders until you reach 100% staff clearance!
  • If staff manually upload a certificate of completion, you will review and mark "complete."
  • If there is a record of criminal history, you will review and make the employment decision.
