Get ready for our volleyball camp in Boston this summer! Girls and boys, ages 10-18 will receive high-quality training from Emmanuel College Head Volleyball Coach, Bori May, and his dedicated staff.

Athletes from Suffolk County and beyond will have the opportunity to sharpen their fundamentals of the game with instruction and drills in a fun and competitive environment. We welcome players of all abilities to join the fun, compete with other athletes, and prepare for the upcoming volleyball season!

    Coach Carley's journey into coaching volleyball takes a dynamic turn as she joins the US Sports Nike Volleyball Camp. Following her inaugural season as the assistant coach for both the Women’s and Men’s Volleyball programs at Emmanuel College, she now steps into the role of Assistant Director for US Sports Camp Nike Volleyball for multiple locations across the New England area this summer.

    Before embarking on this exciting opportunity, Coach Carley accomplished a significant milestone by earning her Master's of Education from Harvard in May of 2023. Her academic prowess is underscored by her Bachelor of Science in Molecular & Cellular Biology from the University of Puget Sound, where she graduated with a flawless 4.0 GPA in 2022.

    While at Puget Sound, Carley showcased her athletic prowess, competing in 65 matches over four seasons. Her contributions to the team were palpable, recording an impressive tally of 399 kills and 158 blocks throughout her collegiate career. In her final season, she reached career highs with 176 kills and 65 blocks, earning her well-deserved recognition as a 2nd Team All-Northwest Conference player. Carley's leadership qualities also shone through as she captained the team during the 2021 season.

    With a passion for coaching deeply ingrained in her, Carley brings four years of invaluable experience from her time at DaKine Volleyball Club to her new role. As both head and assistant coach, she spearheaded national tournament campaigns, meticulously planned weekly practices, and adeptly managed administrative tasks such as scheduling, showcasing her versatility and dedication to the sport.

    Coach Carley's journey is a testament to her unwavering commitment to volleyball, both as a player and now as a coach. Her multifaceted expertise and infectious enthusiasm are poised to inspire and elevate the next generation of volleyball players at the US Sports Nike Volleyball Camp.

    Coach May brings a lifetime of volleyball playing and coaching experience to Emmanuel College, along with an undeniable passion for the sport. Taking over the helm of the Saints program before the start of the 2015 season, May came to Emmanuel bringing an abundance of playing and coaching experience. In addition to his GNAC and Division III coaching experience at neighboring Emerson College, May also served as an Assistant Coach for the Division I women's volleyball team at Princeton University in 2013.

    May was named the 2023 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Volleyball Coach of the Year after guiding the Saints to 19 wins with an underclassmen-heavy roster. In eight playing seasons at Emmanuel, he's coached a total of 18 players to GNAC All-Conference honors and made trips to the GNAC tournament every year at Emmanuel the tournament was sponsored.

    During his first year on the job, May coached the Saints to 11 wins and mentored three All-Conference players. He followed it up with a 19-win effort during the 2016 campaign and coached the 2016 GNAC Player of the Year. He enjoyed the program's first 20+ win season in 2019, leading Emmanuel to 21 wins and a trip to the GNAC Semifinals. During the 2019 campaign, his squad collected 2.04 aces per set to rank 10th among NCAA Division III programs while he also coached the nation's leader in total aces (Erik English '19 - 115 aces).

    A California native, May did his undergraduate work at Santa Monica College and at California State University, Northridge, earning his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications Studies in 2011. During the summers, May is the clinic coordinator and head coach of the Slainte Volleyball Club. Since 2007, he has run volleyball camps and club programs in San Francisco.

    May is an accomplished player as well, setting for the San Francisco Paai Kau Smash and the Los Angeles Mad Dogs. Since 2002, he has led his teams to one 1st place finish, three 2nd place finishes and several top five finishes in the North American Chinese Invitational Volleyball Tournament (NACIVT). May led Hazard Volleyball to a regional championship in the Garden Empire Volleyball Association (GEVA) in 2012 and led XLVB to four Gold Regional Championships in the Northern California Volleyball Association (NCVA) in ('08, '09, '10, '12). As a collegiate setter, May captained his Santa Monica College Team in 2001.

    The EC Athletic Department has been very enthusiastic about May joining the Saints' staff as well. "Coach May brings a wealth of competitive playing and coaching experience, and his entire professional career has been dedicated to volleyball,” boasted former Director of Athletics Pam Roecker. “He is regarded as an innovative, passionate, skilled and person-centered coach and his style is a perfect fit for our college. I am confident in Coach May’s ability to challenge, lead and support our talented squad both on and off the court, as the Saints continue to compete for the GNAC Championship on an annual basis."

    A Step Ahead Sports (ASA Sports) is a year-round youth fitness provider offering: Volleyball, Basketball, Softball, Lacrosse, Baseball, and Field Hockey. Established in 2019 ASA Sports has rapidly expanded each summer throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire offering summer camps in partnership with US Sports Camps. In summer 2023 we serviced more than 5000 campers, participants, boys and girls, ranging in age from 7-18, and have come from communities throughout New England and across the globe.

JUNE 29-JULY 2 | JULY 13-17 | AUGUST 10-14 : ALL SKILLS

  • Open To: Girls & boys, ages 10-18
  • Daily Hours:
    • July 13-17 | August 10-14: Day 1-4: 9:00am-3:00pm on days 1-4, Day 5: 9:00am-2:00pm
    • June 29-July 2: 9:00am-3:00pm
  • Check-In: 30 minutes prior to camp start time on Day 1
  • Lunch: Lunch is not provided. Campers should bring their own lunch.
  • Program: Offers high-energy training focused on fundamental skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Athletes will build a solid foundation and boost confidence in a positive, energetic environment. Recommended for all positions and abilities. Campers may be grouped by age, skill, or experience at the Director’s discretion.

Please note: Schedules and details may be subject to change. If important updates occur before camp begins, we’ll notify registered campers by email and update this webpage.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?

  • Instruction: Daily volleyball training
  • Supervision: Athletes are supervised by staff during camp hours.
  • Camp T-shirt & Prizes: Athletes at multi-day camps will receive a Nike Volleyball t-shirt and prizes. *1-day clinics excluded.
  • Volleyballs: Volleyballs are provided for instruction during the camps. Athletes may purchase a Volleyball at the time of registration, which will be given out on the last day of camps. Fun tip: Have your friends sign your ball before you leave!
  • Facility: Indoor courts
  • Medical Protocol: Our camps will have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.
  • Transportation: Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours, so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.

TEAM/GROUP DISCOUNTS

If you have a group of 4 or more athletes registering for the same camps, each athlete is eligible for a $25 discount. If you have a group of 8 or more athletes registering for the same camp, each athlete is eligible for a $45 discount. Discounts are not available for camp priced at $250 or less. Please fill out the Team Discount - Volleyball form and we will create a unique discount code for your group.

FAQ

  • Absolutely! Campers are encouraged to attend multiple sessions. Each program delivers something unique to help players excel in all areas of the game. Many campers will attend more than one session to further refine their skills, compete against new players, or choose a session with a different program focus.

  • If you need to cancel for any reason up until 24 hours prior to camp check-in, you will receive a camp credit voucher for tuition fees paid that is good through the following year for any sport and is transferable to any immediate family member. Participants who DO NOT attend their registered session (no-shows for any reason) or who do not contact USSC to cancel at least 24 hours prior to camp check-in will not receive a voucher or refund.
