Sport and Language Program Overview
Campers interested in adding a language program to their Nike basketball camp can choose from two language locations: Malibu Youth Camp at Pepperdine or the ELS downtown Santa Barbara Learning Center. In both locations, the language program preceedes the Snow Valley basketball camp. For more information on the camp, click here.
The first location at Malibu, is a short distance from the LAX airport, and is geared towards younger campers (9-16.) It offers a traditional language camp environment, with comprehensive language program in the morning and a full menu of exciting pre-planned afternoon activities and weekend excursions. The start date for the Malibu Youth Language Program is June 29 or July 6. The full program concludes after basketball camp on Thursday July 31.
The second location option, at the downtown ELS Learning Center in Santa Barbara, starts on June 29 and concludes after the basketball camp on Thursday July 31.
All language campers will have 15 lessons (each lesson is 50 minutes) per week. All language classes are in the morning. Language assessment is done on the first Monday of their language session. Students have free time in the afternoon to explore the local area of Santa Barbara with their new friends/or host families (SB downtown Center) or enjoy pre-planned afternoon activities each day at the Malibu Youth Camp at Pepperdine.
After their two or three-week language program, campers will transition over to the Snow Valley Basketball Camp location at Westmont College. The first session of camp starts Sunday July 20th. A weekend offensive skills camp falls between the two sport sessions, and starts on July 25th through July 27th. The last basketball session starts on July 27 and ends on Thursday July 31. Whether you attend one, two or all sessions, campers will enjoy 5-6 hours of daily training and evening basketball scrimmages which put their newly honed basketball skills to the test. During the Snow Valley Basketball Camp - campers will reside in on-campus dorms at Westmont College. At the conclusion of camp, (July 31st), campers will be taken back to LAX for their flight home.
Snow Valley Basketball programs feature staff and players whose own high school and college coaches were important in their basketball development, so they know how to help you achieve your basketball goals. Snow Valley treats each player as an individual. A Personal Player Report Card will be kept on all campers throughout the week, and given to them at the conclusion of camp. This report card will note particular strengths and weaknesses, and offer suggestions for individual improvement once they have left Snow Valley.
Daily game competition against other players of similar age and ability levels will be scheduled. Every participant will play a minimum of one half of every game. In addition to games, a minimum of nineteen clinics concerning individual and team fundamentals will be presented during the week long session. Drills are a big part of each clinic. We design our program to have an eight to one player to coach ratio and guarantee your son or daughter will receive an excellent week of BASKETBALL INVOLVEMENT.
