Camp Director

Steve Crook

Steve Crook is in his 15th season as head coach of the Concordia University Wisconsin softball team.

In 2013 Crook guided CUW to a 28-17 overall record, the fourth time in the past five seasons the Falcons have won at least 25 games. CUW finished fourth in the Northern Athletics Conference, posting a 17-7 record.

2013 also marked a couple of firsts for the Falcons softball team as Crook coached Cara Landherr, who was named to the NFCA All-Great Lakes Region First Team. Landherr became the first player in program history to earn All-Region first team honors. Stephanie Kramer was named to the Second Team, also a first in Falcons history.

In 2012, Crook and the Falcons finished third in the Northern Athletics Conference after posting a 19-5 league record. They finished 2012 with a 25-16 overall mark, the fourth straight year CUW has won at least 20 games.

Crook is the winningest coach in CUW softball program history and directed his team to the NCAA Tournament in 2009 after winning the NAC Tournament. The 2009 Falcons defeated St. Norbert College in the NCAA Tournament, posting a 1-2 record.

In 2011, CUW finished with a program-best 32-10 record. The Falcons went 21-3 in NAC play, tying for second with Aurora University.

Since joining the NAC in the 2007 season, Crook has produced 36 All-Conference players. In both 2011 and 2012, CUW finished with seven players who earned conference awards.

Crook won Lake Michigan Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2002 and 2004, and led the Falcons to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2006.

Assistant Coach

Julie Janssen

Julie Janssen returns for her 7th year as an assistant for the Falcon softball team. Julie is an alumni of Concordia, who played four years of softball and basketball. Julie was an outstanding softball player who helped CUW win its first championship in 2002.

She is among the all time leaders in stolen bases, batting average and was one of the best defensive players CUW has ever had. Julie primarily coaches the infielders and offensively coaches base running and small ball.  She is an outstanding motivator and Christian role model for our team.

Angie Steffen

Angi starred for Cedarburg High School before becoming part of the Falcon 1/2 mound (with Sarah Rennicke) duo for 4 years.

She joined the CUW program as an AT staff member and assistant softball coach in 2008.

The camp offered so much, it is just an all around great experience.

"The camp offered so much, it is just an all around great experience. It was more than just physical, it was a mental learning experience. I wish I could go again next year, but I will be too old! The camp was amazing and I would recommend anyone interested in moving on in softball to do it."

I hope to go back every year.

"The camp was very well-planned out and had a good program. The times to wakeup eat and play were reasonable and the instructors knew exactly what they were doing and taught the campers in an easy-to-understand way. I hope to go back every year!"

Honest assessment of my skills.

"I've been playing competitive travel softball for five years now yet I felt the coaches at this camp helped me improve my game in many ways. They showed me where I needed improvement and were very honest in their assessments of my skills. They recommended coaches to help me continue to improve after the camp - and I really appreciate that."
