Schaefer is the Assistant Coach at the University of San Diego and comes to USD after two seasons as the head coach at San Diego Christian.

Before becoming the first-ever head coach at SDCC, Schaefer coached at Point Loma Nazarene, her alma mater, from 2003-2009. After spending six seasons as an assistant, she was named PLNU's head coach in 2009.

Schaefer had an immediate impact on the Torero offense. In her first season USD set a school record for doubles in a season with 75 and had the highest team batting average of the McElvain era (.300). Under her guidance, the Toreros had two players named to the NFCA All-Region team (Mary Grabowski and Taylor Spence).

During her time as an assistant and head coach at PLNU, Schaefer helped guide the Sea Lions to seven NAIA World Series appearances, including a runner-up finish for the National Championship in 2007. After Point Loma dropped their softball program, Schaefer became an assistant at San Diego City College.

As a player for cross-town Point Loma Nazarene University, Schaefer (playing under her maiden name Bolding) was a four-time first team all-GSAC player, a four-time NAIA All-American, a three-time GSAC Player of the Year winner, and a two-time NAIA National Player of the Year. Schaefer helped the Sea Lions with two GSAC and two Region II titles and was a part of three teams that made the NAIA National Championship Tournament.

Schaefer still ranks in the NAIA top-10 in numerous offensive categories and her name is in the PLNU university career and single-season record book in 17 places. She was inducted into the PLNU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008 and into the NAIA Hall of Fame in 2010.

In addition to her collegiate career, Schaefer played for Arizona Heat, a professional softball franchise in the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) League, for two years (2004-05). In 2004, she led the Heat in hits and earned a spot on the NPF All-Star team. The next season, she hit .389 with a .472 on base percentage with 11 doubles, 28 runs scored and 26 RBI.

Schaefer lives in El Cajon with her husband Joe, the PLNU head baseball coach, and their three sons, Brayden, Riley, and Cannon.

My Confidence & Swing Are Better Than Ever!

"I want to say THANK YOU to both Coach LeeAnn and Cheryl for improving my swing! After attending their camp, my swing has become more consistent and my confidence is better than ever. My tryouts went so well that I secured a spot on the 18U team, after playing 14U last year. Thank you so much! I know I wouldn't have been able to accomplish that, had it not been for the training with you guys this summer. I can't wait to come back next year!"

The NIKE Softball Camp gave my daughter a passion for life!

"This was our daughter's first Nike camp experience and we can't begin to tell you how pleased we are and how much she enjoyed herself. We had a two and a half drive home in which her camp experience was the conversation all the way home. Her first practice with her team after camp showed a noticeable improvement. It wasn't just an improvement of skills, but of attitude, a passion and desire to "Be That Girl". I think this has given her something that will grow with her in life as her life's motto. She can't wait for her next camp experience. Thank you for an amazing staff and the readiness you all showed to teach our young the love of a game that translates into a passion for life!"

Coach Taylor's Positive Energy, Leadership, Strength, and Character are an Inspiration to our Daughters

"My daughter, learned a lot from the NIKE Softball Camp Director, LeeAnn Taylor and her coaches - not just softball skills, but life skills and how to think like a winner. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

Coach Taylor's positive energy, leadership, strength, and character are an inspiration to our daughters and to us parents, too. I hope she goes on coaching for a long time. She makes this world a better, brighter place. We appreciate her and all she does! Hope to see you next summer!"

I Hope To Go Back Every Year

"The camp was very well-planned out and had a good program. The times to wakeup eat and play were reasonable and the instructors knew exactly what they were doing and taught the campers in an easy-to-understand way. I hope to go back every year!"
