Get ready for this exciting Nike Baseball Camp at Biola University this summer in La Mirada, CA! A great coaching staff, directed by Coach Luke Mattson, highlights an exciting week of camp. Campers will fine-tune their fielding, hitting, base-running skills, and enhance their knowledge of the game, all while having an awesome time and making new friends. Camp Details

Instruction will focus primarily on hitting, fielding, base-running, and game situations. You can expect high demand for these first come first serve camper spots, so please be sure to register early.

2024 CAMP INFORMATION

  • Dates: July 22-25, 2024
  • Age Group: 5-14
  • Camp Type: Half Day Camp (Ages 5-8) & Day Camp (Ages 9-14)
  • Schedule: Monday-Thursday | Half Day Camp 9:00am-12:00pm & Day Camp 9:00am-3:00pm
  • Check-In: 30 minutes prior to camp start time
  • Meals: Lunch is not provided. Please bring a snack/lunch to camp each day.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?

  • Daily Baseball Instruction
  • Supervision: Campers are supervised by staff during camp hours
  • Nike Baseball Camp T-Shirt, Cinch Sack, Wristband, Sticker, and potentially other prizes!

INSTRUCTION & FACILITY

  • Ratio: 1:10 staff to camper ratio

  • Groupings: Campers are initially grouped by age and moved around accordingly based on skill level.

  • Facility: Outdoor Fields

Instruction will focus on the following -


Hitting Focus: Situational hitting, swing mechanics, approach, understanding quality at bats (QAB's), bunting, hard-hit balls.

Fielding Focus: Proper footwork on ground balls & fly balls, proper glove positioning on ground balls & fly balls, how to cut off/relay a throw properly & efficiently, double plays, fly ball communication, throwing accuracy.

Pitching Focus: Mechanical fundamentals, strikes vs. quality strikes, changeups, mindset/approach.

Baserunning Focus: Getting good steal jumps, how to make good turns, what part of the base to hit for safety & efficiency purposes, Leads @ 1st, 2nd, & 3rd, tagging up properly.

CHECKLIST OF THINGS TO BRING:

Below is a suggested list of clothes, equipment and personal items. US Sports Camps is NOT responsible for lost or stolen articles or money.

  • Small gym bag/backpack

  • Athletic clothing: t-shirt, shorts, baseball pants (recommended)

  • Cleats & sneakers

  • Helmet

  • Catchers gear (if applicable)

  • Sunscreen

  • Packed lunch and snacks

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

TRAVEL

Nike Baseball Camps does not provide transportation from airports, train stations or bus depots. If you have a child flying to camp, please arrange a shuttle or taxi service.

TEAM/GROUP DISCOUNT

If you have a group of campers registering for the same camp, each camper is eligible for a discount. Please have someone contact the US Sports Camps office at 1-800-645-3226 with the names of each camper in the group and we will create a unique discount code for your group. Campers may then register individually through the website at their convenience and apply the offer code during checkout. *Discount amount varies by program. Please call for details.

  • 9:00am Welcome/Coach Introductions
  • 9:15am Stretch
  • 9:45am (9) Stations - 12 minutes each + 2 minute transition
  • 1) Pitching in visitor's bullpen
  • 2) Short hops/hands work on knees in IF grass
  • 3) Groundball footwork
  • 4) Rest/Trivia/Talk Baseball in 1B dugout

  • 7) Leads & tagging up

  • 2) Team 1 - Partner Short Hops/Backhands & Forehands
  • 3) Team 2 - Groundball work & difficult plays
  • 4) Empty - Baserunning at 3B & Rest in 1B Dugout
  • 10:30am Young Guys - Game on Main Diamond (Whole lineup hits, then switch)
  • 10:30am Older Guys - (5) Stations - 13 minutes each + 2 minute transition
  • 1) Team 1 - Tee work in cages close to Hope
  • 2) Team 2 - Front flips in cages close to field
  • 3) Team 3 - Tennis ball HR Derby in RF (soft-toss)
  • 4) Empty - OF Throwing competition in CF
  • 5) Empty - Rest under canopies in LF
  • 12:00pm Half-Day campers pick-up / lunch
  • 12:45 pm Games - 3 Innings
  • Main Field - Teams 2 & 3

Biola University Baseball Field

EAGLES DIAMOND

Eagles Diamond is home of the Biola baseball team. Built in the early 1970s, the facility features stadium seating for 125, batting cages, full bullpens, a press box area and an electronic scoreboard. The field surface and dugouts were updated in the summer of 2013, including new grass and dirt and a new paint job on the dugouts and grandstands.
