at Nike Baseball Camps

We’re thrilled to be bringing Nike Baseball Camp back to Long Beach City College in 2026! This camp is the perfect place for young athletes of all skill levels to sharpen their baseball fundamentals, build confidence, and make great memories on the field.

With top-notch facilities, experienced coaches, and a fun, supportive environment, players will work on all aspects of the game—throwing, hitting, fielding, baserunning, pitching, and more. Plus, we’ll mix in plenty of games and challenges to keep things exciting and engaging.

And don’t forget our Pitching Session on June 26th! It’s a great opportunity for pitchers to fine-tune their mechanics and take their skills to the next level.

    Phillip Visico

    Director

    A Long Beach native and proud alumnus of Wilson High School (Class of 2010), Visico began his collegiate playing career at LBCC from 2011–2013 under the guidance of legendary Head Coach Casey Crook. His return to LBCC came in 2017, when he joined the coaching staff as an assistant coach. Over the past eight seasons, Visico has played an integral role in the program, contributing to recruiting efforts, player development, and game-day strategy—including overseeing the infield and outfield units, guiding the offense, and coaching third base.

    Now stepping into the interim head coach role, Visico leads the program with a wealth of experience, a deep connection to the college, and a talented coaching staff by his side. His vision is focused on developing a competitive team culture and returning the Vikings to conference championship contention.

    "I'm beyond blessed and humbled to be given this opportunity by our administration," said Visico. "This place, the people, and the culture have had a tremendous impact on my life. I hope to carry forward the legacy and spirit instilled by Coach Crook and share that with every student-athlete who comes through this program. Thank you, Vikings Nation!"

    As the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Long Beach City College baseball program, responsible for designing and implementing year-round training regimens focused on enhancing athletic performance, preventing injuries, and supporting player development.

    Duties include conducting team and individual workouts, monitoring progress, and ensuring proper technique and safety in all physical training activities. In addition to strength and conditioning responsibilities, provide critical support in the integration and management of performance and video analysis technologies including Rapsodo Baseball Flight Monitor, Trackman, and the Hudl platform. Assist in the setup, operation, and analysis of data from these technologies to aid player development and in-game strategy. Also responsible for coordinating and executing the filming of games and practices for coaching evaluation and player feedback.

    Mitchell Knight grew up playing baseball in the Long Beach area. He attended and played baseball for Spud O’Neil at Lakewood High School. After graduating high school, he attended Long Beach City College and played under former Head Coach, Casey Crook. Mitchell now plays at Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY. Mitchell knows what it takes to compete at the higher levels of baseball and offers a wide range of knowledge that can improve your game.

    Assistant Coach

    Evan Vazquez brings high-level collegiate experience and a strong commitment to player development to Nike Baseball Sports Camps. A standout pitcher, Evan began his college career at Long Beach City College under legendary Coach Casey Crook from 2021 to 2023. He earned Pitcher of the Conference honors in 2023 after a dominant season, throwing 88.1 innings with a 2.95 ERA and a 6-2 record.

    He continued his career at Cal State Dominguez Hills in 2024 and 2025 under Coach Tyler Wright, where he wrapped up a four-year collegiate career with 284 total innings pitched. His consistent performance, leadership on the mound, and deep knowledge of the game made him a key contributor at both programs.

    In addition to his accomplishments on the field, Evan earned a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Cal State Dominguez Hills in 2025. His academic background in human movement and athletic performance adds a valuable dimension to his coaching, helping young athletes train smarter and play at their best.

    Evan is passionate about mentoring the next generation of baseball players and is excited to bring his experience and energy to Nike Sports Camps for the 3rd summer in a row.

    Noah Lomeli is a dedicated and experienced baseball player who spent four years at Millikan High School before continuing his career at Long Beach City College.

    After two strong seasons at LBCC, he earned the opportunity to transfer to Whittier College to compete at the next level. As a primary catcher, Noah embraces the leadership and responsibility that comes with the position. He prides himself on playing the game the right way and always putting his team first. Noah is excited to share the knowledge and experience he’s gained throughout his career with the next generation of players.

    Matthew Villalba is a dedicated and experienced baseball coach currently serving as an assistant coach at Long Beach City College (LBCC) since 2024.

    A proud alumnus of Cerritos High School (Class of 2011), Villalba began his coaching career there in 2017 after completing his service in the United States Marine Corps (2013–2017). During his six-year tenure at Cerritos High, he played a pivotal role in revitalizing the program, helping lead the team to its first playoff appearance in two decades.

    Known for his expertise as a catching coach, Villalba also works closely with hitters and corner infielders, and coaches first base during games. At LBCC, he helps manage offensive and defensive strategies, collaborates on player development, and fosters a competitive culture geared toward advancement to the next level. A former college student-athlete before an injury redirected his path, Villalba brings a unique blend of technical instruction, leadership, and mental performance training—drawing on his background in psychology and military discipline to mentor athletes on and off the field.

Camp Details

Instruction will focus primarily on hitting, fielding, base-running, and game situations. You can expect high demand for these first come first serve camper spots, so please be sure to register early.

2026 CAMP INFORMATION

  • Dates: June 22-25, 2026 | June 22-26, 2026 (includes a Friday pitching session)
  • Camp Type: Day Camp
  • Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-2:00pm | Friday Pitching Session, 9:00am-12:00pm
  • Check-In: Begins 30 minutes prior to the camp start time @ field.
  • Meals: Lunch is not provided. Please bring a snack/lunch to camp each day.
  • Aftercare: This camp offers aftercare from 2:00pm-3:00pm following each day of camp. All 4 days can be purchased for an additional $100.00 fee. (Note: you cannot purchase aftercare for individual days).

INSTRUCTION & FACILITY

  • Ratio: 1:10 staff to camper ratio

  • Groupings: Campers are grouped by ability, age, and experience, per the Director's discretion.

  • Facility: Full college field, batting cages, and bullpens. Outdoor fields. Indoor facilities are available during inclement weather conditions.

  2. Bunting Fundamentals
  3. Recognizing and Hitting Off-speed pitches
  4. Situational Offense
  5. Practice Drills

Pitching:

  1. Fundamental Mechanics
  2. Catch Play Routines
  3. Arm Care Routines
  4. Importance of Control
  5. Stretch & Wind-up
  6. Pick-off Mechanics (age appropriate)

Base Running:

  1. Fundamental Running Mechanics
  2. Home to First (ground ball, fly ball)
  3. Leads, Extensions, and Reactions at all bases
  4. Two Bases (Double, 1st to 3rd, 2nd to Home)
  5. Three Bases (Triple, 1st to Home)

Fielding:

  1. Catch Play Routines
  2. Arm Care Routines
  3. Ground Balls – straight on, backhand, glove side
  4. Fly Balls – camped, on the run
  5. Communication and Relay
  6. Catching – receive, block, throw

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

TRAVEL

Nike Softball Camps does not provide transportation from airports, train stations or bus depots. If you have a child flying to camp, please arrange a shuttle or taxi service.

TEAM/GROUP DISCOUNT

If you have a team or group of 5 or more campers registering for the same camp, each camper may be eligible for a discount. To receive the group discount, please have someone email US Sports Camps at [email protected] with the following information: Camp name, list of camper names, and the number of campers. We will respond with a unique discount code for everyone in the group to use during online registration. *Note: Discount amounts vary by program, so please reach out for more details.

"Long Beach City Baseball is excited to once again offer a Nike Baseball Camp in 2026. All of our camp instructors are current college coaches or players. We offer a fast paced, fun program aimed at skill development. Each day will include challenging drills as well as scrimmage play. We look forward to seeing at LBCC this summer."
