Coach Rose City Ryan Keene

Ryan Keene is the current head cross country coach, as well as the head track and field coach at Madison High School. He has coached the Senators since 2017, and in 2018 the girls’ track and field team took 2nd at the PIL district meet while only having 16 female competitors at the meet.

In his first two seasons at Madison High School for cross country, the participation has tripled on both the boys’ and girls’ teams. Ryan began his coaching career at Clackamas High School and coached there for nine seasons. As the distance head coach in track, he never failed to qualify an athlete for the State meet and in XC, never failed to get a girls’ team to State. While at Clackamas, his teams won two girls’ team titles in cross country, four girls’ team titles on the track and coached athletes to break seven of the school distance records. Ryan ran collegiately at Gonzaga University for legendary NW coach Pat Tyson. Ryan still views Tyson’s philosophy as one of his main reasons for success in coaching.
