With more than a decade of experience as a player in the NWSL and top leagues overseas, Beverly “Bev” Goebel Yanez has been an invaluable leader for Gotham FC since joining the club as an assistant coach in 2021.

In her brief time with the club, Goebel Yanez has helped lead Gotham FC to the 2021 Challenge Cup Final and the 2021 NWSL playoffs (only the second playoff appearance in club history), and she has played a substantial role in the continued development of the team’s talented young players. After a standout playing career, Goebel Yanez is focused on her personal development as a coach; in the coming months, she will earn her U.S. Soccer National A Senior Coaching License.

Prior to joining Gotham FC, Goebel Yanez was the Director of Coaching and Boys’ Technical Director for Juventus Academy in California, and Academy coach with the NWSL’s Seattle Reign FC (now OL Reign) from 2017-19.

As a player, Goebel Yanez played six seasons in the NWSL for Reign FC, was the team’s leading scorer twice, helped lead the club to a league-record 16-game unbeaten streak in 2014, and was named to the NWSL’s Best XI.

With INAC Kobe Leonessa in the Japanese Nadeshiko League, Goebel Yanez earned the Golden Boot Award in 2013 as the league’s leading scorer, was named to the league’s Best XI, and led the club to the Mobcast Cup Final, where they defeated Chelsea LFC to win the championship. In 2012, she was instrumental in INAC capturing the Nadeshiko League championship and Empress’s Cup. She also played professionally for PK-35 in Finland's Naisten Liiga, as well as the Western New York Flash and the Washington Freedom in the WPS.
