Cristian Materazzi
Co-Director
Coach Cristian Materazzi brings over a decade of collegiate, professional, and youth‑development experience to his role as he enters his second season at the prestigious Stevenson School in Pebble Beach. A proven teacher of the game, Materazzi is known for his ability to develop players of all positions through modern training methods, strong communication, and a positive, growth‑oriented coaching style, qualities that translate directly into an exceptional camp experience.
Before joining Stevenson, Materazzi coached at both Cal State Monterey Bay (CSUMB) and West Virginia University, where he played an integral role in daily team training, match preparation, and overall player development. During his time at WVU, the program earned multiple NCAA Tournament appearances, produced top performers, and became known nationally for its disciplined, dynamic style of play. He helped guide athletes to All‑America honors, conference major awards, and national recognition, reinforcing his reputation as a coach who elevates players technically, tactically, and mentally.
Materazzi also brings valuable head‑coaching experience from his four‑year tenure at Alderson Broaddus University, where he led the program to conference tournament appearances and helped multiple players earn all‑conference accolades. Earlier in his career, he contributed to successful seasons at Stetson University and West Virginia, where teams captured conference titles and advanced deep into postseason play.
A former collegiate goalkeeper and professional player, including time with California Gold of the USL PSL and a trial with Club América, Materazzi combines firsthand high‑level playing experience with a deep understanding of youth development. His coaching approach emphasizes confidence, creativity, and game IQ, ensuring campers not only learn but thrive in a challenging and fun environment.
Materazzi holds an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and is passionate about helping young athletes build strong fundamentals, improve decision‑making, and love the game. He and his wife, Courtney, reside in California and remain active members of the local athletic community.
