Danny O'Rourke
Coach
Coach Daniel O’Rourke brings a strong blend of coaching expertise, player development, and youth‑to‑collegiate pathway experience to the Mount St. Mary’s men’s soccer staff. A dedicated developer of young athletes, O’Rourke has built a coaching career that spans NCAA programs, elite youth clubs, and international environments, preparing players to succeed at every stage of the game.
Before arriving at the Mount ahead of the 2020–21 season, O’Rourke built his coaching foundation at Keystone College, Frostburg State, and East Stroudsburg University, taking on responsibilities that covered recruiting, scouting, match analysis, tactical planning, training design, and goalkeeper specialization. During his time with Frostburg State and East Stroudsburg, both programs captured conference championships and earned NCAA Tournament berths, reflecting O’Rourke’s impact on competitive, championship‑level soccer.
At Keystone, he helped guide the program to the 2019 CSAC Championship, adding another NCAA postseason appearance to his coaching résumé. His experience also includes roles with the Electric City Shock in Pennsylvania and UCD Women’s Soccer in Dublin, Ireland, further broadening his coaching perspective and exposure to diverse playing styles.
Originally from Ireland, O’Rourke’s own playing career began with top youth clubs including Dundrum AFC, St. Joseph Boys AFC, and Cherry Orchard FC, all league‑winning sides during his time. A four‑year starter and nationally ranked goalkeeper at Keystone College, he earned defensive MVP honors, all‑conference recognition, academic awards, and the prestigious N. Scott Thurston Award for excellence in both athletics and academics.
O’Rourke also brings specialized training credentials, holding two coaching licenses from the Football Association of Ireland, including a certification in goalkeeping—adding valuable positional expertise to the Mount’s coaching staff. A committed family man and a passionate educator of the game, he continues to play a key role in developing confident, intelligent, and technically strong players at the collegiate level.
