Head Men's Soccer Coach

Derek Marie

Marie derek

Former Head Men's Soccer Coach at Carroll University.

Marie has coached three CCIW All-Conference selections in Shea Connell (2018, 2019) and Josh Gonzaga (2021). Marie returned to his alma mater, Carroll University, in 2013 as an assistant men’s soccer coach, before being named the head coach prior to the 2018 season. He was a standout performer for the Pioneers, earning all-Midwest Conference honors in each of his four seasons at Carroll, making him one of just three players in team history to achieve the feat – Joe Sikora and Andy Ksobiech are the others. Marie also garnered state and regional recognition during his career, with first-team all-Wisconsin and second-team All-Central Region accolades following his junior campaign. He played a vital role in Carroll’s first-ever Midwest Conference title in 2007 and the team’s first Midwest Conference Championship in 2008. The 2008 team also won the programs first-ever NCAA Tournament game.

Marie was a student-assistant coach for the Pioneers in 2009, then went on to serve as assistant coach for the UW-Stevens Point women’s soccer team the following year. The UW-SP squad advanced to the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament.

Marie was previously involved with the Croatian Eagles Soccer Club, where he was the head coach of the club’s U-18 Midwest Regional team for the spring 2014 season.

As a prep at Stevens Point Area High School, Marie earned first-team all-conference and was an all-State selection while finishing his senior campaign as his league’s leading scorer.

Marie graduated from Carroll with a degree in Business Marketing. He earned his master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University in Irvine, California in 2015.
