Emma Rohde - Camp Director

Emma Rohde is the Head Volleyball Coach at the University of Mary Washington.

Emma Rohde has been named as the new head volleyball coach at the University of Mary Washington, according to Director of Athletics Patrick Catullo. Rohde comes home to UMW volleyball after stints with successful programs at UMW and Washington & Lee University as an assistant, and as head coach at Kenyon College. She was the first AVCA All-American in UMW volleyball history as a setter after leading the Eagles to the 2016 NCAA Division III national quarterfinals, their best finish ever.

"We look forward to welcoming Emma Rohde back to UMW as the next head coach of the volleyball program and to continue the team's tradition of excellence", said Catullo. "Coach Rohde 's experience as a coach and an alumnus of UMW will be a great asset to the team and the department."

"First and foremost, I want to thank AD Patrick Catullo and the search committee for the incredible opportunity to lead the women's volleyball program at UMW", said Rohde. "UMW has always been home to me. It is an honor and privilege to come back an alum and lead this fantastic group of young women. This is a dream come true for me and I can't wait to get to work! Go Eagles!"

Following her legendary career with the Eagles, in which the team finished with a 93-36 record and advanced to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments in her junior and senior seasons, Rohde served one season at UMW as an assistant coach, and in that season, the Eagles finished with a 19-10 mark, advancing to the Capital Athletic Conference championship. She served as interim head coach during the spring 2019 semester.

From there, Rohde moved to Washington and Lee University, where the Generals won a pair of Old Dominion Athletic Conference championships, winning 66 matches and dropping just 18, while the team consistently posted a team GPA of greater than 3.5.

In Lexington, Rohde assisted in making and implementing practice plans, was responsible for recruiting and scouting opponents and film breakdown, and managed the Generals' volleyball social media sites. She coached two All-America selections, four all-region student-athletes, and seven all-conference picks, including two conference players of the year.

She was named as the head coach at Kenyon College in July, 2022, and oversaw all aspects of the program. Her 2022 team captured its first North Coast Athletic Conference regular season and tournament victories in three seasons. She coached one all-conference selection, and the team posted a 3.76 GPA for the year.

A valuable member of the staff in her first year, Rohde served as co-advisor for the Kenyon Student Athlete Advisory Committee, as well as a member of the Kenyon DEI committee.

She served in 2023-24 as Administrative Assistant for Academic Success and Student Engagement Coordinator at Richard Bland College.
