Head Men's Soccer Coach

After a thorough search, Jason Brown has been named the new head men’s soccer
coach at St. Ignatius. Jason is currently the Executive Director at the Juventus Soccer Club in Silicon
Valley and brings an extensive and celebrated playing and coaching career to St. Ignatius. He currently
holds a UEFA “A” and FA License and is qualified as both an outfield and goalkeeping coach. His coaching
philosophy centers around four key values: character development, technical mastery, tactical application, and creative play.
“We are very excited to announce Jason Brown as the next men’s head soccer coach at St. Ignatius,” said
Athletic Director, John Mulkerrins ’89. “Jason brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience that will continue to develop our soccer program into one of the top programs in Northern California. He is a player-focused coach with great passion for the sport and looks forward to seeing the development of each player in the program.”
Jason began his playing career at Gillingham FC and then moved to the Blackburn Rovers from the English Premier League. Jason continued to play with a number of well-known teams in the United Kingdom such
as Leeds United, Cambridge United, and Aberdeen. From 2006 - 2012 Jason played for the Wales National Team, earning three caps. Other playing highlights include making 130 appearances for Gillingham (won
the club’s Player of the Year in 2006), is the only goalkeeper to be named Wales Young Player of the Year (2002), captained the Wales U20/U21 teams eight times, and played under a number of successful and
highly regarded managers including Craig Brown, Mark Hughes, Sam Allardyce, Mick McCarthy, Simon Grayson, Dave Jones, and Paul Ince.
After his playing career, Jason coached with a number of professional teams and academies around the world. Jason was the Academy Head of Goalkeeping and Ladies Goalkeeper Coach at Arsenal Football Club, Head Coach of Thailand side Aire Force United FC, and the Goalkeeper Coach for the national teams of Vietnam and Bangladesh. He also coached at Gillingham FC, Millwall FC, and operated his very own Jason Brown’s Goalkeeping Clinic from 2013-2015.
Upon accepting the position, Jason said, “I am incredibly grateful and humbled to accept the position as the new head coach of the St. Ignatius Men’s Soccer team. It is a tremendous honor to become a part of the St. Ignatius family, and I am eager to embark on this exciting journey. I am committed to nurturing the talent of our student-athletes and guiding them towards their full potential. Beyond honing their skills in soccer, I am dedicated to their overall development as individuals. I will instill the core values of integrity, sportsmanship, and perseverance in each player, empowering them to excel not only in their athletic endeavors but also in all facets of life. I am eager to work closely with the coaching staff, faculty, and the entire St. Ignatius community to create a culture of excellence and achievement. Together, we will inspire the next generation of St. Ignatius athletes to push their limits, embrace challenges, and create lasting memories. I am truly honored to accept this position, and I am excited about the journey that lies ahead. I look forward to making a positive impact and contributing to the continued success of the St. Ignatius Soccer Program.”
