Jason Rife

Directing camp this summer will be Jason Rife. Coach Rife brings an abundance of coaching experience that features more than 15 years of coaching at the collegiate level.

Jason Rife spent 2014 and 2015 with the University of Hartford men’s lacrosse team as an assistant coach. Joining head coach Peter Lawrence’s staff in October 2013, Rife brought an abundance of experience that featured more than 15 years of coaching at the collegiate level.

Rife has spread out his coaching career over six different colleges and universities, and has been an integral part in each of those institutions finding postseason success as he has two conference championships and a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances under his belt.

Arriving to Hartford by way of Whittier College, also where he began his coaching career in 1998, Rife has spent the last two seasons in California as an assistant coach for the Poets. During his first stint at Whittier, he worked alongside Lawrence for two seasons, both serving as assistants.

Before making his return to Whittier and the west coast, Rife spent four seasons as a coach at Wagner College in Staten Island. Before earning that position, he was a member of the coaching staff at Bryant from 2003-07, helping the then-Division II power to the program's first-ever Northeast 10 Conference regular season championship. Also highlighting Rife's campaign at Bryant was a combined 45-20 record and the development of five Division II All-Americans.

Rife first broke into the Division I coaching scene in 2002 when he was tabbed an assistant coach at UMass, his alma mater. In two seasons with the Minutemen, he helped the team to an appearance in the NCAA Division I quarterfinals in 2003. He is no stranger to the NCAA Tournament as in 2002 he assisted in piloting Washington & Lee to the Division III Final Four, a run that also featured the capturing of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference crown.

Rife graduated from UMass in 1996, earning his undergraduate degree in sports management.
