Jen Fallon

An Inside Lacrosse Division II National Coach of the Year in 2008, Jen Fallon completed her 15^th season as the head coach of New Haven women’s lacrosse in the spring of 2021. The longest-tenured coach in program history, Fallon is the Chargers’ all-time leader with 171 career wins and a .665 winning percentage (171-86).

A five-time conference coach of the year (four-time NE10), Fallon has led the Chargers to five NCAA Tournament berths, and has qualified New Haven for the Northeast-10 Tournament in each of its 12 seasons in the conference. Under her tutelage, 17 different Chargers have secured 24 All-American accolades, while a pair of Chargers have won national Player of the Year distinction; Brittany Ast named Defensive Player of the Year in 2015 and Corinne Fisher named Midfielder of the Year in 2016. In addition, seven Chargers have earned Northeast-10 Player of the Year honors.

Following the 2020 season that was cut short due to the CoVID-19 pandemic, Fallon led the Chargers to a 7-7 record in 2021, a year that was limited to Northeast-10 divisional play because of the pandemic. Despite the shortened season, the Chargers advanced the NE10 playoffs for the 12th time in her tenure, led by All-American and NE10 Defensive Player of the Year Raven Linton. In addition to Linton’s national honor, she and two other Chargers, Marina Skelly and Emily Holland, earned IWLCA All-Region honors while the trio were part of five total Chargers to earn NE10 All-Conference accolades.

In 2019, she led the Chargers to a 12-7 overall record which included a 13-12 overtime win over Pace in the quarterfinals of the NE10 Championship before falling to eventual conference champion Merrimack in the semifinals. That season, she mentored five all-conference honorees, including NE10 Midfielder of the Year, Mackenzie Reh, as well as two all-region honorees in Reh and Linton. Reh also earned the New England Lacrosse Journal's DII Player of the Year honor for the second straight season.

In 2018, Fallon led the Chargers to 12 total wins, including nine wins in NE10 action. During the season, Fallon coached three Chargers who were named to the IWLCA All-East Region squads, including midfielder Mackenzie Reh (First Team), attack Jessica Mazliah (Second Team), and defender Raven Linton (Second Team). In addition, Reh highlighted the trio as she was named an IWLCA First Team All-American and was the NE10 Midfielder of the Year, the first All-American and major NE10 award winner since Corinne Fisher earned the same honors in 2016. In addition to those three, Courtney Duffy and Emily Holland were each named to the NE10 All-Conference teams.

In 2017, the women's lacrosse team earned a spot in the NCAA tournament for the fourth consecutive season after boasting a 15-5 overall record and an 11-2 NE10 mark. During that season, Fallon mentored three IWLCA All-Americans and All-North region selections, with Kendall Cietek, Nicole Belanger, and Hannah Johnson all earning the honors. In addition to those three, Caitlyn O'Brien was also an All-North region honoree, with six total Chargers being named to the NE10 All-Conference team.

The 2016 squad earned an NCAA Tournament berth for the third consecutive season. The team won three contests against ranked opponents including a 10-0 shutout over No. 14 Stonehill, the program’s first blanking since 2003. Fallon saw senior Corinne Fisher crack the record books, as she entered the program’s top ten in total points, goals and assists while fellow senior Maya Szymanski also broke into the top ten in assists. Fallon guided her players to seven All-Conference nominations and seven IWLCA awards.

In 2015, the program continued to excel, qualifying for its second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance as Fallon once against garnered Northeast-10 Conference Coach of the Year accolades. The team defeated Adelphi for the first time in program history, snapping a 36-game winning streak for the top-ranked Panthers. Fallon also mentored the IWLCA Division II National Defensive Player of the Year, Brittany Ast, and saw Kathryn Campbell become the second player in school history to reach the 300-point mark in her career.

Behind Northeast-10 Coach of the Year honors for Fallon, the 2014 campaign tied a program-record for overall wins (16) and set a new record with an 11-1 NE10 slate. The Chargers played the ninth toughest schedule in Division II and the second toughest in the NE10 with eight games against teams ranked in the top 15. New Haven earned its highest-ever national ranking at No. 4 - a position it held for five-straight weeks starting on April 7. UNH finished the year with its highest ever final national ranking at No. 6. Junior midfielder Kathryn Campbell became the program’s third All-America First Team selection and was New Haven’s first NE10 Midfielder of the Year honoree. Brittany Ast and Nicole McKee were Second Team All-America selections as well - making 2014 one of the most decorated years in Charger history. The three joined seven others who received postseason awards from the conference. The Chargers’ postseason run began with their second appearance in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Game and finished in their second NCAA Division II quarterfinal appearance.

Playing one of the toughest schedules in the nation in 2013, the Chargers finished with a record of 12-7 and climbed as high as No. 8 in the national rankings. Rachel Resnick and Natalie Lieberman were both named Second Team All-America by the IWLCA, with Resnick garnering Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year honors. In total, five New Haven student-athletes claimed year-end accolades. All seven of New Haven’s losses came against nationally-ranked competition, and the Chargers also won two contests against ranked opponents en route to an NE10 postseason win and trip to the conference semifinals.

In 2012, Fallon guided the Chargers to a 13-5 record and a national ranking as high as No. 6 from the IWLCA. The season included a victory over No. 3 and eventual national champion C.W. Post as one of New Haven’s four triumphs over nationally-ranked opponents. Ashley Ferrandiz, Aubrey Duncan and Alexis Gabbe all earned IWLCA All-America status and headed a list of six Chargers to earn All-Northeast-10 laurels. Fallon was recognized by her peers as the conference’s Coach of the Year for the second time in four seasons as a member of the NE10.

In New Haven’s first season as a member of the prestigious Division II Northeast-10 conference, Fallon was tabbed the league’s Coach of the Year after leading the Blue and Gold to a new program record 16 wins. In that campaign, the Chargers won the Northeast-10 Conference Championship to garner the program’s first-ever NCAA Championship berth. The 2009 club finished at 16-4 with a 9-1 NE10 record – also setting a then-school record for conference wins in a season. She guided New Haven to seven wins in 2010 and notched a winning season in 2011 with a 10-8 tally.

In just her second season at the helm of the Chargers, the 2008 campaign saw Fallon named the Inside Lacrosse Division II National Coach of the Year after leading the Chargers to the program’s first-ever winning campaign with a then-program-record 14 victories and just three losses. Fallon, who was also named the East Coast Conference Coach of the Year, mentored Brigid Brady ’09 to the program’s first Division II All-America honor following her third-consecutive 50-goal season.

Fallon took over the Chargers’ program in 2007 and, in her first spring at New Haven, matched the program record with seven victories.

Before coming to New Haven, Fallon served as the head girls’ lacrosse coach and physical education teacher at Greens Farms Academy in Westport, Conn., with additional duties in the areas of policy & curriculum and athletic game management.

Fallon started her coaching career at her alma mater in 1997 as Sacred Heart University’s head women’s soccer coach from 1997-2000. Fallon also served as the school’s assistant compliance coordinator for two years while coaching.

As a collegiate lacrosse player, Fallon was a three-time Division II All-America selection (1994-96) and is Sacred Heart’s all-time scoring leader with 264 career points. She scored 212 career goals with 52 assists and, in her All-America seasons, posted three of the school’s top-four single-season point totals. At the time of her graduation, she ranked in the top 20 on the Division II national career scoring list, and in the top 10 all-time in goals scored.

A native of Milford, Conn., Fallon earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Sacred Heart in 1996. She currently resides in Milford, Conn. with her husband, Jamie.
