Josh Gurekovich Saint Vincent College Nike Swim Camp

Directing camp this summer is Josh Gurekovich. Coach Gurekovich has been the Saint Vincent College swimming coach since the program's inception in 2004.

In 2013 and 2022, he was honored by his peers, as he was named Women's Coach of the Year in the Presidents' Athletic Conference.

The 2017-18 season was arguably the finest in Saint Vincent swimming history. During the season, the Bearcat women's team claimed its first ever undefeated regular season in Presidents' Athletic Conference competition before finishing second at the annual PAC Championship meet. On the men's side, junior Jacob Davis made history. Davis was named PAC Men's Swimmer of the Year, becoming the first ever Bearcat swimmer to claim the honor. Davis went on to become the first NCAA qualifier in school history. On March 24th at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships, Davis finished seventh in the 100 Freestyle, giving the program its first All-American in school history. Gurekovich saw both programs excel in the classroom during the year, as they were both honored each semester with Scholar All-American recognition from the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America.

In 2016, Gurekovich led the Bearcat women to their best finish in program history, tying for second place at the annual PAC Swimming & Diving Championships. Gurekovich's teams perform well in the classroom as well, as they have earned Scholar All-American recognition from the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America both in 2016 and 2017.

Prior to SVC's joining of the NCAA, Coach Gurekovich qualified 13 swimmers for the NAIA national meet. As members of the NCAA and the Presidents' Athletic Conference, both the men's and women's squads continue to perform well, setting many new school records each season.

Gurekovich came to Saint Vincent after coaching two powerful NCAA Division III teams, Westminster College (Pa.) and Colby College.

While at Westminster, he helped guide three swimmers to the NCAA national meet where they placed in the top 16 in each of their respective events during the 1999-2000 season. He then went on to Colby College where in the first year he helped the women’s team to their highest finish in the NESCAC Conference meet placing fourth. They also had multiple national qualifiers.

He then returned to Westminster for the 2003-04 season, and the Westminster women finished the year with the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship while the men finished a close second. Gurekovich has coached 27 national qualifiers in NCAA D-II, D-III, and NAIA during his coaching career both as an assistant and head coach. During that time he worked with eight All-Americans and one national champion.

In addition to these coaching accolades he is a two-time NAIA National qualifier, an All-American in the 800 Free Relay, and a member of the 1999 GLIAC Conference Champion swim team. A 1999 graduate of Westminster College, Gurekovich earned his degree in History with a Secondary Education minor.

He and his wife Chrissy reside in Irwin with son, Connor and daughter, Emily.
