Katy Cooke

Katy Cooke is the Head Girls Basketball Coach at John Paul II Catholic High School. In just her 2nd year as head coach , JPII has a 27-16 record, and in 2021 she led them to a final 4 appearance in TAPP 4-A state tournament.

Before taking the head coaching job for JPII she was an assistant coach at Antonian Preparatory High School for 5 years. While working as assistant for Antonian, the girls team won district twice and madeTAPPS 6-A State-Tournament. She has helped several of her players reach their goals of playing at the next level, at schools like Texas A&M, Trinity College, Incarnate Word University, and Schriener. While coaching she also worked for All American Sports and the San Antonio Spurs as a Tournament Director. Where she helped run the 2nd largest youth tournament, with over 541 teams attending for 13 different states, and 3 countries.

She is a former Division I basketball player, who voted All- State in both Kentucky and Texas while in High School. Ranked as one of the top players in the state of Texas and Kentucky between 2005-2009. Starting her college career at Tennessee Tech University, finishing her career at the University of Incarnate Word. While playing at University of Incarnate Word, Coach Cooke led her team to three Lone Star Conference tournament appearances, as well as a conference championship game in 2012.. She led her team in scoring, free throw percentage, and assist per game. She averaged 12.1 points per game. 3-pt shooting percentage was 38.5% per game, along with averaging 3.4 assist per game . Her average free throw percentage throughout her career was 88 percent but in 2012 she ranked Top 5 in the nation in free throw percentage shooting 92.2%. She was named to the Lonestar All-Conference Team 2011 and was voted first team all-conference in 2012. 116209#

After graduating with her degree in Business Administration, she took a graduate assistant position at UIW Athletic department as the Head of Women's Club Basketball, she received her Masters in Education concentration in Kinesiology.
