Kristy Nix

Kristy Nix is the Women's Head Volleyball Coach at Farmingdale State College.

Kristy Nix joined the FSC staff in June of 2017, bringing a wealth of experience to the FSC staff, coaching at all levels of game, from junior high to Division I. She holds a career record of 45-45 at FSC. Her responsibilities not only entail women's volleyball, but she also serves as the Life Skills Coordinator for the department.

In her first season at the helm, Nix led the Rams to a 20-8 record, including a perfect 10-0 in conference play.

Prior to Farmingdale, Nix served as the boys volleyball coach at Garden City High School and worked for the East Coast Conference as a Student Development Consultant.

From 2013-2015, she was the Assistant Business manager in the University of Delaware Athletics Department. Prior to Delaware, she spent two years at Marist College where she held numerous roles, including the director of intramurals, club sports, and camps. She served as a radio color commentator for all Marist women's basketball games, a statistician for men's and women's basketball and volleyball matches and a compliance assistant.

She also spent time on the academic side at Marist, serving as an adjunct lecturer for Sports and Society and Human Movement in Sports classes. She was also the official orientation speaker and advisor for community/special events for the Marist Athletics Department.

Prior to her time at Marist, Nix was an assistant women's basketball coach (2010-11) and director of women's basketball operations (2008-2010) at Stony Brook University. While at Stony Brook, Nix earned a Master's degree in addition to a graduate coaching certificate.

She also held positions with the U.S. Open Tennis Center, St. Mary's Academy, Emerson College, The International Tennis Hall of Fame, and the Boston Red Sox.

Nix received her Master's Degree in Liberal Arts from Stony Brook in 2010. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Operations Management from Rhode Island College in 2007, where she played three years on the varsity basketball and volleyball teams.

In 2018, Nix was inducted into the Rhode Island College Athletic Hall of Fame. As an outside hitter from 2003-05 (3 Years), she racked up a .235 hitting percentage, 1,032 kills, 729 digs and 103 service aces in her career. At the conclusion of her playing career, Nix was RIC’s all-time leader with 2,655 career hitting attempts. She also earned First Team All-Little East honors as a senior in 2005, while securing Second Team All-LEC honors as a junior as the Anchorwomen clinched a share of the Little East Regular Season Championship: the first and only one in program history. She was a two-time captain and MVP of the volleyball team and holds the school record for kills in a season (478) and is second in career kills (1,032).

Originally from East Setauket, N.Y., Nix now lives in Massapequa.
