Stephen Mitchell
Pickleball Instructor
Stephen, originally from Cape Town, South Africa, has had a distinguished career in tennis. He competed in the Australian, Wimbledon, and U.S. Open Junior Grand Slams before playing Division 1 tennis at the University of Alabama, where he also captained the team during his senior year. After college, Stephen continued his professional tennis journey on the ATP tour and became a key member of the South African Davis Cup team. Alongside Johan, Stephen has won three Platform Tennis National Championships and accumulated numerous other titles throughout his career, showcasing his competitive edge and deep knowledge of racquet sports.
With 18 years of experience as a racquets professional, Stephen most recently served as the Director of Racquets at The Braeburn Country Club in Newton. He shares Johan’s passion for growing the sport and will be leading the first Boston Pickle Club facility at 91 Sprague Street in Hyde Park. Outside of his professional life, Stephen enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, often supporting them at various sports events such as soccer, tennis, or ice hockey.
