Tashena Weatherman
Assistant Coach
Tashena Weatherman joins Wenatchee Valley College Athletics as an assistant coach for both Volleyball and Basketball in her first year. A former NWAC athlete from Bountiful, Utah, Weatherman brings valuable experience and a strong passion for the game. She played basketball and volleyball throughout middle school, high school, and college. Additionally, she remains active in the sports community by participating in coed volleyball, women’s volleyball, and basketball leagues throughout the valley.
Before taking on her current role, Tashena served as the assistant coach at Cascade High School for 3 years and as the head coach of the Kodiak Volleyball Club Boys U18 Red team. During this time, she dedicates herself to cultivating young athletes and supporting their development in both sports and their personal lives.
What Weatherman cherishes most about coaching is the opportunity to witness her players' remarkable growth in several key areas. She finds immense satisfaction in observing their mental development as they learn to strategize, overcome challenges, and foster resilience in the face of adversity. Physically, she values the significant improvements they make in their skills and fitness, pushing their limits and achieving personal bests. Additionally, Weatherman takes pride in seeing her players cultivate strong social bonds, enhancing their teamwork and communication skills while developing a sense of camaraderie that extends beyond the field. This holistic transformation is what fuels her passion for coaching.
Her goal as the assistant coach is to foster a supportive environment where each player can thrive both individually and as part of the team. She emphasizes the importance of communication and collaboration, ensuring that every athlete feels valued and heard. By focusing on skill development and building confidence, she aims to inspire her players to push their limits, embrace challenges, and grow not only in their sport but also as individuals. With a commitment to mentorship, she hopes to instill a lifelong love of the game in her athletes.
