Nike Cross Country Camps is coming to UC Santa Barbara in 2025!
The camp combines top notch distance running instruction with an incredible summer experience. Next Athletes, operator of the Nike Sports Camps at UCSB, provides a perfect opportunity for campers to learn from amazing distance running coaches in a beautiful, oceanfront campus environment. The camp staff is comprised of dedicated college coaches, high school coaches, and collegiate athletes who are committed to helping campers improve their results and create memories that last a lifetime. The camp is open to boys and girls, ages 10-17.

Camp Director Westy McQueen
Westy McQueen is the owner and camp director for Next Athletes, operator of the Nike Sports Camps at Boise State University and Westminster University. Westy has over 10 years of experience operating youth programs and has designed the Next Athletes programs with the purpose of providing a truly memorable, sport development experience for each child. Westy is a Positive Coaching Alliance certified coach, Level II U.S. Kids Golf Certified Coach, and specializes in a variety of sports including tennis, volleyball, soccer, golf, and football.

Head Track & Field/Cross Country Coach, Mt. San Antonio College Daniel Ozan
Daniel Ozan (Coach O) is the head cross country coach at Mt. SAC and serves as a support staff member for Next Athletes and Nike Cross Country Camps.

Camp Details
2025 CAMP INFORMATION!

- Camp Type: Day, Overnight Sessions Available!
Overnight Camp
Register for our overnight camp at UCSB and enjoy an immersive collegiate cross country experience. Campers reside in the oceanfront Manzanita Village Residence Hall in adjacent rooms to the camp staff while training with current and former college coaches and athletes. The tuition includes housing, meals, fun evening activities, as well as college recruiting and sports psychology seminars (parents are encouraged to attend the seminars!). This program is open to players of all ability levels, and groups are separated by age and ability level on the first day.
Day Camp
Nike Cross Country Camps also offers a day camp program for local players who would like to commute to camp each day. This program runs 9:00am-4:00pm (schedule varies by day) and includes daytime training only. Campers must bring their own lunch or purchase on campus. This program is open to players of all ability levels, and groups are separated by age and ability level on the first day.
The Nike XC Camp at UCSB is open to any and all entrants and limited only by number, age and gender. The Nike XC Camp at UCSB is not owned, sponsored, co-sponsored or controlled by the University.
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?
- Instruction: Morning and afternoon training sessions
- Supervision: Campers are supervised by staff during camp hours.
- Overnight campers: Housing (Manzanita Village Residence Hall), evening activities and all meals
- Day campers: Instruction and daytime activities only. Lunch is not included
INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT & FACILITY
Ratio: 1:10 staff to camper ratio
Groupings: Campers are grouped by age, ability, and experience.
Equipment Needed: Please bring your water, running shoes, and lunch
Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

DAY CAMPERS:
- Running or athletic shoes
- Extra athletic clothing
- 1-2 pairs of broken in running shoes
- Non-running shoes
- Packed lunch/snacks
- Water bottle
- Sunblock
- Small gym bag/backpack
- Any other appropriate clothing for that day’s activities which will be described to you on the first day of camp
OVERNIGHT CAMPERS ONLY:
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- Running or athletic shoes

TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.
