Camp Overview

IMPROVE YOUR GAME AND HAVE SERIOUS FUN AT NIKE FOOTBALL CAMPS!

Sign up for the Nike Football Camp at CSU San Marcos and enjoy elite-level coaching while making memories to last a lifetime. Open to players of all ability levels (ages 7-17), the camp offers a unique opportunity to train under the direction of current and former collegiate coaches in a fun, competitive environment.

Overnight Camp

Our overnight camp offers an immersive, on-campus experience. For the duration of the camp, players reside in the CSUSM dormitories in adjacent rooms to the camp staff while training with current and former college coaches and athletes. The tuition includes housing, meals, training, fun evening activities, as well as college recruiting and sports psychology seminars (parents are encouraged to attend the seminars!).

Day Camp (9:00am – 4:00pm)

Nike Football Camps also offers a summer day camp program for local players. This program runs 9:00am-4:00pm (schedule varies on first and last day) includes daytime training only. Campers must bring their own lunch or purchase on campus.

The Nike Football Camp at CSU San Marcos is open to any and all entrants and limited only by number, age and gender. The Nike Football Camp at CSU San Marcos is not owned, sponsored, co-sponsored or controlled by the University.

    On-Field Director

    Will Hawes is the former head coach for Judge Memorial Catholic High School and serves as the football director for Next Athletes. Coach Hawes has been a football coach for nearly 25 years and now serves as the Community Relations Coordinator for Judge Memorial. Coach Hawes played collegiate football at Weber State University and has a wealth of athlete and coaching knowledge to share with each young athlete.

    Rick Smith is a former standout at Arizona State and Boise State and is the wide receivers coach at Long Beach City College

    Wide Receivers Coach, Long Beach City College

    Former Long Beach Poly All American and Arizona State standout Wide Receiver Rick Smith, is in his fourth season as a member of Viking coaching staff. Rick serves as wide receivers coach and special teams returner coach. Smith joined the Vikings after spending two seasons at Long Beach Poly High, where a CIF Championship was earned in 2021. He served as wideouts coach and special team’s returner coach for Poly in 2020 and 2021.

    Rick is a 2019 graduate of Arizona State University, where he earned a Bachelor degree. He played for the football program at Wideout and Returner before transferring to Boise State as a redshirt player earning scout player of the year (2014).

    John Austin is the defensive backs coach for California Lutheran University and serves as a support staff member for Next Athletes and Nike Football Camps.

    Coach Silvernail is the special teams coordinator and tight ends coach for Long Beach City College Football and serves as football director for Next Athletes and Nike Football Camps.

    Assistant Football Coach, Long Beach City College

    Coach Jericho Silvernail is entering his 4th season at Long Beach City College. Prior to coaching for the Vikings, coach Silvernail was the varsity line coach, special teams coordinator, and lower-level defensive coordinator for Cerritos High School in 2017. In 2015 Coach Silvernail served as the Varsity Offensive line coach and JV head coach for Peninsula High School in Rolling Hills Estates. He had the opportunity to coach in the 2014 Orange County Lions All-Star game with the Huntington Beach High School staff as a Defensive line assistant. Coach Silvernail started his coaching career as the freshman Offensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach for Santiago High School of Garden Grove in 2013. Coach Silvernail is a current member of the American Football Coaches Association and has spoken at coaching clinics in Southern California. Coach Silvernail and his wife Marchetta, are the proud parents of a beautiful daughter named Ada (2).

    Certified Athletic Trainer

    Kulsum Baig is a certified athletic trainer and handles all athletic training needs for Next Athletes’ Nike Sports Camps. With a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from San Diego State University and a Graduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Injury Management from the University of Kentucky, Kulsum has worked with athletes at the high school, collegiate, and clinical levels.

    Currently serving as an athletic trainer at Malibu High School, Kulsum is committed to providing top-tier care, optimizing performance, and ensuring athlete safety. Known for her passion for sports medicine, Kulsum strives to make a lasting impact in the field of athletic training.

Camp Details

Nike Contact Football Camps feature skill development both offensively and defensively. At camp, "contact" is introduced in a slow, gradual progression before any actual "contact" is initiated. Practices will progress to be full pads towards the end of camp. Campers are divided according to age, weight, and ability.

Note: There is no rental equipment available. Each camper will need to bring their own equipment.

  • Roommates: Rooms are assigned by age & roommate requests. Roommate requests must be received no later than 14 days before the start of camp. If you don't have a roommate request, you will be placed in a room with someone near your age. It will be a great opportunity to meet someone new!
  • Linens: Please bring linens with you to camp
  • Air Conditioning: Yes

PARENT/CAMPER SEMINARS

Both campers and parents are invited to join us for evening educational seminars during the week. Seminar topics will include college recruiting, expectations of a college athlete, and the different paths kids can take in sports. We also offer opportunities for Q&A with each panel of coaches.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?

  • Supervision: Campers are supervised by staff during camp hours

INSTRUCTION & FACILITY

  • Ratio: 1:10 staff to camper ratio

  • Groupings: Campers are grouped by ability, age, and experience, per the Director's discretion.

  • Facility: Outdoor Fields. Indoor facilities are available during inclement weather conditions.

MEDICAL PROTOCOL

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

TRAVEL

Nike Football Camps does not provide transportation from airports, train stations or bus depots. If you have a child flying to camp, please arrange a shuttle or taxi service.

TEAM/GROUP DISCOUNT

If you have a team or group of 5 or more campers registering for the same camp, each camper may be eligible for a discount. To receive the group discount, please have someone email US Sports Camps at [email protected] with the following information: Camp name, list of camper names, and the number of campers. We will respond with a unique discount code for everyone in the group to use during online registration. *Note: Discount amounts vary by program, so please reach out for more details.
