    Erin Fahey

    Erin Fahey

Head Women's Golf Coach, Bowling Green State University

Coach Fahey will embark on her third full season at the helm of the Falcons and fourth overall as the head coach after taking over midway through the 2021-22 season. A 2019 graduate of BGSU, Fahey returned to the Falcons as the head coach on Jan. 12, 2022. Fahey’s coaching career began at Bowling Green as well, serving as an assistant from 2019-21 before a brief stint as an assistant coach at Colorado State. Fahey is the 11th head coach in program history.

In her second season in charge of her alma mater, Fahey led the team to two team wins in both the Battle of I-75 and the Bobby Nichols Invitational and four top-three finishes in the Bobby Nichols Invitational, Loyola Invitational, Shirley Spork Invitational and UTRGV Invitational. In the 2024 season, under her guidance the Orange and Brown recorded a new single season team scoring average at 304 and a new 18-hole scoring record (287), 36-hole scoring record (579) and 54- hole scoring record (875).

Fahey helped coach Ava O’Sullivan to a historical season breaking school records for the single-season lowest scoring average at 75.03 and records in the 18-hole (67 (-5)), 36-hole (137(-7)) and 54-hole scoring records (208 (-8)). O’Sullivan finished the 2024 season with an individual win in the Shirley Spork Invitational and runner-up in the Loyola Invitational. Moreover, she coached Sammie Dolce to record-breaking freshman campaign breaking the single season freshman lowest scoring average at 75.59, breaking a record set by herself in 2015-2016 when she competed for the Falcons.

In the 2024 season, she had multiple student-athletes claim individual accolades, including All-MAC selections and Scholar Team selections. He helped six Bowling Green golfers make the WCGA All-America Scholar Team, five named to the Academic All-Mac teams, Ava O’Sullivan gain second team All-MAC recognition and Kayla Davis named 2024 MAC Sportswomen of the Year for the second time in her tenure. The team also garnered WGCA All-Scholar Team Accolades placing ninth in the nation with a 3.864 collective GPA.

During Fahey’s first season as the Falcons’ head coach, BGSU reached new heights. The Orange and Brown finished first at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, the program’s first time winning the event under the current name. Freshman MacKenzie Moore won the individual title as well, utilizing Fahey’s guidance to win after five playoff holes.

The Falcons went on to place fourth at the MAC Championships during the 2021-22 season, the program’s best finish in program history. Kayla Davis led the Orange and Brown on the course with a fourth place finish, the best by a Falcon since 2015. Davis went on to be named Second Team All-MAC, becoming the seventh Falcon all-time to be named All-Conference and the first since 2003-04.

Prior to returning to BGSU, Fahey spent the fall of the 2021-22 season at Colorado State as an assistant coach. With the Rams, Fahey aided CSU to a third place finish at the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic as well as a sixth place finish at the Badger Invitational, including three individuals placing inside the top 20.

Fahey’s introduction to the coaching ranks came as an assistant with the Falcons from 2019-21. The highlight during Fahey’s tenure as an assistant came with a second place finish at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational during the 2020-21 season.

Before coaching, Fahey was a star on the Falcons’ women’s golf team. A three-time captain for the Falcons, Fahey closed her collegiate playing career by being named the 2019 Mid-American Conference Sportswoman of the Year. Over the course of her career, Fahey led BGSU to six team tournament titles. One of the team titles came at the 2017 KZoo Classic, where Fahey also claimed the first individual championship of her playing career.

Arriving on campus in 2015, the native of Austin, Texas rewrote the BGSU women’s golf record book. Her 76.49 career stroke average is tops in program history by 1.74 strokes, while her 75.48 (2017-18) is the best single-season stroke average in BGSU women’s golf history. Additionally, Fahey’s 77.17 stroke average in 2015-16 still stands as a freshman record. Fahey was BGSU’s leading scorer each year of her career.

A part of back-to-back (17-18 & 18-19) BGSU teams that ranked No. 1 in the country for Division I women’s golf in community service hours, Fahey flourished within the BG community and inside the classroom. Fahey – a three-time Academic All-MAC selection and four-time WGCA Academic All-American Scholar – competed on two Bowling Green teams that ranked inside the Top 25 in the nation in Division I team GPA. The 2018-19 squad ranked 23rd in the country for team GPA, while the 2016-17 Falcons ranked No. 15 in the nation.

Fahey received her Bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University in 2019. An economics major while at BGSU, Fahey earned her MBA (with a specialization in finance) from the University in 2020.
