Nike Junior Golf Camps
The Golf Depot returns as host to junior golf camps in Columbus, Ohio! Coach Hammond has over 20 years of coaching experience and is excited to help kids of all skill levels improve this summer.
Full Day Camp
These camps are designed for boys and girls between the ages of 9-17. The staff is on hand to provide campers with top quality instruction each day. We accommodate all skill levels; the junior player just discovering the game, the high school player trying to move up on the team, and the tournament level junior looking to improve his or her tournament results. The camps run Monday through Friday, 9:00am-4:00pm. Campers practice all aspects of their games during morning instruction - putting, chipping, bunker play and full-swing. The morning session is followed by lunch and afternoon course play.
Half Day Camp
Our half day programs are designed to create interest and foster development in beginner and intermediate golfers, ages 7-14. The camps run Monday through Friday 9:00am-12:00pm and include fifteen hours of total range instruction. Strong emphasis is placed on the fundamentals—stance, grip, posture, full swing, rules & etiquette, etc. As the week unfolds, campers receive quality short-game instruction and by Friday, each Nike junior golfer will see improvement in his or her golf game!

Camp Director Gerry Hammond
Gerry Hammond is one of the teaching professionals for The Golf Depot. He has over 20 years of experience as a golf professional, PGA member and golf instructor. Gerry established the "Players Junior Golf Academy" and the "Adopt-A-Junior Golfer" programs, as venues to expose Columbus area youth to the game of golf.View Gerry Hammond's Bio ⟩
He was the Director of Golf at Family Golf Centers in Whitehall and Director of Golf at Bridgeview Golf Course.
While at Bridgeview, Gerry partnered with Columbus State and initiated the formation of the Columbus Chapter of The First Tee national program supported by the PGA of America, PGA Tour, the Augusta National Golf Club, LPGA, and the USGA. Since 2005, he has been selected as US Kids Top 50 Junior Golf Instructors and continues to produce great players. As a one of the top PGA golf instructors in Central Ohio, Gerry continues to focus his time and talent on teaching youth important life skills such as patience, dedication, honesty, integrity and hard work, through golf.
This program is designed for boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 17 (ages vary by camp option). The staff is on hand to provide campers with top quality instruction each day. A detailed camper registration packet containing check in location, health/release forms, emergency contact info, and a list of things to bring will be emailed to all registered campers in the spring.
Sample Daily Schedule
- 9:00am Instruction - campers rotate stations working on putting, chipping, pitching, full swing, rules of the game
- Noon Lunch, half day campers depart
- 1:00pm Course play with staff
- 4:00pm Full day campers depart
The Golf Depot
The Golf Depot is a Public Play, Practice and Learning center. The aim of this facility is to make the game friendlier for new players and less time consuming for current ones. The Hammond Golf Academy offers Instructional programs geared towards players of all skill levels. Perched on a hill that is one of the highest points in Franklin County, the outstanding view of the Columbus skyline is one of the many unique features of the facility.
