He led the 2013-14 team to solid season. The Vikings placed third after shooting 982 (334-321-327). Before Berry left the NAIA following the 2009-10 academic/athletic year, the Vikings had never fallen out the NAIA’s top 25 during Farrer’s tenure.

In 2010, Farrer led both the men's and women's teams to the SSAC Championship and a berth in the NAIA National Tournament. The men's team placed fifth at the National Tournament, while the men were sixth. Men's All-American Samuel del Val was the SSAC Individual Champion and also placed on the NAIA All-Tournament team.

In his first year, Farrer led the Vikings to a ninth-place finish in the NAIA National Tournament.

Prior to becoming the head coach, Farrer spent a year as Scott Pierce's assistant with the Vikings, working with a team that placed second in the NAIA. In that role, Farrer helped lead the Vikings to their second straight national runner-up finish.

The Vikings are a tradition-rich program, having won the national title in 1998. The Berry men's golf team has also placed runner-up at the NAIA National Tournament on five other occasions. Women's golf has also been a varsity sport at Berry since 2001. Farrer coached Nicole Wildes to an individual National Championship during the 2004 season. Wildes was the first Berry golfer to win an individual national championship with a record setting performance in the 2004 NAIA National Tournament and finished her career as a four-time All-American. An All-American himself, Farrer has coached 10 NAIA All-American Athletes at Berry, including all four of the women's NAIA All-Americans. During that itme the team has collected a total 19 All-American Awards and 11 NAIA national academic awards.

A Berry graduate, Farrer earned a bachelor of science degree in business in 2002. He also completed a successful playing career, leading the Vikings to their sixth consecutive TranSouth Conference title and a second-place finish at the NAIA National Tournament in New Mexico.

After transferring to Berry from Gainesville College in 1998, Farrer became one of the most consistent and skilled players for the Vikings. In 2002, his best performances were a fourth-place individual finish at the TranSouth Conference Championships and a seventh-place finish at the Berry Invitational. In the 2001 season, he was a top-ten individual finisher in four tournaments, including a fifth-place finish at the TranSouth Conference Championships. As a sophomore, he earned All-American honors by placing fourth overall with a four-under-par 284 at the NAIA National Championships. He made four All-Tournament teams that year, including the TranSouth Conference Tournament, where he placed second overall. Farrer was the low medalist at the Pine Needles Invitational Tournament to open the 2000 spring season.

A native of Gainesville, Farrer graduated from North Hall High School in 1997. While at Berry, he not only was an office assistant for the golf program, he was also an active member in the Viking ABC program, the athletic service club started at Berry in 2000. He currently resides in Rome with his wife, Penny Farrer, who is also a Berry graduate, holding both an undergraduate and master's degree from Berry. The couple has two daughters, Alexis and Riley.

Head Men's Golf Coach, Lee University

When John Maupin decided to walk away from the men's golf program, he had built into one of the nation's best in NCAA Division II, the new Lee University athletic director wasted no time in recommending it be turned over to former player and assistant coach Evan Spence.

“There is no doubt in my mind that we just added one of the best up and coming young coaches in the country. Evan has a heart for others, combined with a deep competitive drive and a strong work ethic. He was the right choice to take over this program, and I look forward to seeing where it goes from here.”

Spence was born and raised in Chattanooga and played high school golf at McCallie School. He joined the Lee golf team in the fall of 2016. During his playing career he was runner-up at the 2019 Bobby Nicholls Intercollegiate (Tennessee Tech's event) with scores of 69-69-68; had two top 5 (3rd and 4th) finishes at the Gulf South Conference Championship in 2019 and 2021; qualified for the 2019 NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championship as an individual; was a two-time GSC All-Conference team selection, and a three-time NCAA Academic All-American.
Spence married fellow Lee All-American golfer Haverly Harrold in the summer of 2020 after both had received undergraduate degrees. His undergraduate is in Business Administration - Marketing Management (graduated Summa Cum Laude) and he also has an MBA from Lee.

As an assistant Lee coach, Spence helped the 2021-22 team win the 2021 Cougar Invitational (Columbus State), the 2022 Saint Leo Invitational, the 2022 Gulf South Conference Championship, and the 2022 NCAA National Championship. This past season he served as the volunteer assistant coach.

"Words cannot truly describe how excited I am to be taking over this program. I have been around Lee University golf for a long time, both as a player and a coach," said Spence as he expressed his feelings about the coaching opportunity. "I have grown to love it more as the years go by. It is a privilege to be a part of such a special group and I am humbled, honored, and grateful for the opportunity to lead this program to even greater heights now and into the future."

"From a coaching standpoint, I have been a part of a lot of this program's success over the past several years and have seen firsthand what it takes to perform at a very high level in the most competitive region in Division II golf. I greatly look forward to pouring into our players and continuing to build upon the strong culture of excellence we have worked so hard to establish here."
