San Rafael, CA – February 7, 2024 – US Sports Camps is excited to welcome Justin Van Dyk and John Kenworthy, current co-directors of the Nike Five-Star Cross Country Camp, as new co-directors of the Nike Green Mountain Running Camp, one of the nation’s premier cross-country camps for high school runners.

"I am excited about becoming part of the Green Mountain family and this new opportunity to help young athletes discover the joy of running,” says Van Dyk. "I have seen firsthand the passion and dedication that my co-director John brings to the sport, and I have no doubt that he will do a fantastic job in this new role. I look forward to working with US Sports Camps and have always appreciated the positive impact they have on the athletic community."

Coach Van Dyk is currently the coordinator of the Boys’ and Girls’ Cross-Country at Rutherford High School (NJ). With over 25 years of experience in cross country camps, Coach Van Dyk brings a strong resume to the acclaimed Green Mountain Running Camp.

“This new adventure at Green Mountain Running Camp with both US Sports Camps and Coach Van Dyk is extremely exciting,” says Kenworthy. “The opportunity to help young athletes fall in love with cross country has always been my motivation for putting on excellent camps, and after working with Justin and the USSC staff over the last decade, I know this team is going to make that happen for all of our campers!”

Coach Kenworthy was recently named Head Women's Cross Country and Assistant Distance Coach at Brown University. Prior to Brown, Kenworthy served a ten-year tenure as the Head Coach of both Women’s and Men’s Cross-Country at Siena College, during which he was named to the MAAC Cross Country 40th Anniversary Team in 2020. As a former member of the Division I Track & Cross-Country teams at Sacred Heart University, Kenworthy boasts over 15 years of experience in the college running space.

“Coaches Van Dyk and Kenworthy bring a wealth of experience to Green Mountain Running Camp,” says Tim Phelan, VP of Running/Track and Field US Sports Camps. “As former campers and current Nike Five-Star co-directors, they offer a unique perspective of being a resident camper, athlete, and coach. Their leadership experience and passion for the sport of running is a great addition to the Nike Green Mountain Running Camp, providing inspiration and development to our high school runners.”

The Nike Green Mountain Running Camp will take place July 28 – August 2 and August 4 – 11, offering high school runners the ideal mix of learning, training, and fun. Registration for the Green Mountain Running Camp is open at this link.
