Nike Field Hockey Camp Directors to Make USA Field Hockey Futures Recommendations
Nike Field Hockey Camps, a division of US Sports Camps, the largest sports camps network in the world, has renewed their partnership with USA Field Hockey, to make recommendations for regional futures programs. Under this partnership, all Nike Field Hockey directors are certified to make recommendations for the programs from the participants that attend their summer field hockey camps. If recommended, athletes will have the opportunity to participate in various programs designed by some of the country’s top coaches to help further their careers.
USA Field Hockey Futures is an Olympic development program, occurring in the off-season, for advanced players with a desire to play at an elite level. In 2017, 90 college coaches from Division I, II, &III colleges attended and recruited at the training sessions. In 2018, 97% of the U.S. Women’s National Team and Development Squad participated in the Futures Program.
During tryouts players are evaluated on their quickness, ball control, attack and defense skills, overall field awareness, and decision making. If a camp director deems that a participant excels in all areas and is recommended for the Futures Program, the camp participant will receive a letter shortly after the program concludes with more information on how to get involved. The program is open to boys and girls ages 12 and up.
The Nike day and overnight field hockey camps give young, driven athletes the opportunity to make the most of their summer break by receiving high level instruction from camp coaches, while also trying out for Futures.
