Stony Brook School to Host Summer Nike Tennis Camp
The Nike Swim Camp will be hosted at The Stony Brook School, situated on 55 beautiful acres, on the north shore of Long Island, New York.
January 27, 2020 – Stony Brook School, a private 55-acre boarding school located in Long Island, New York, recently announced the addition of Nike Tennis Camps to its list of summer youth programs. Stony Brook School’s Directors, Jim Lavender, Head Tennis Coach at Montreat College, and former tennis professional, Tim Wilkison, are excited to offer four weeks of camp for young athletes looking to take their game to the next level.
“After working with the Nike Tennis Camps in Charlotte, North Carolina, it’s an honor to bring these camps to the Long Island area,” says Wilkison. “Solid fundamentals and consistency are the most important points of focus with our junior programs and we are beyond excited to display these messages to our campers in a fun, learning environment.”
Tim Wilkison has been running Nike Tennis Camps at the Charlotte Latin School in North Carolina for several years. As a pro, Wilkison has won six singles titles, ten doubles titles, and reached a career-high world singles ranking of No. 23, all while defeating names such as Arthur Ashe, John McEnroe and Andre Agassi.
“We are thrilled to continue to work with such amazing coaches like Tim Wilkison and Jim Lavender,” says Matt Kurlander of Nike Tennis Camps. “Our Directors have designed a camp blueprint to improve fundamentals and help individuals reach their goals.”
Nike Tennis Camps at Stony Brook School offer Full Day, Half Day and Overnight camps for four sessions in 2020. The Overnight Camp (Only offered July 13-16) includes all meals and gives campers the opportunity to stay in dorms on campus and participate in fun-filled evening activities. Full Day Camps run from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, and include morning instruction followed by lunch and afternoon match play. Programs are geared towards players of all ability levels, ages 9-18.
