CAMP PROGRAM INFORMATION

• Gender: Coed
• Age Range: 18+
• Skill Level: Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced

SKILL LEVELS & GROUP PLACEMENT

Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week. Participants are then sorted by ability first, then age per the Camp Director's discretion - adjustments are made as needed during camp.

While there are many ways to define skill levels, the following descriptions are what the Camp Directors at Nike Pickleball Camps will use to organize and group camp participants. At the time of registration, please choose the level that best represents your experience:

• Beginner: Players at this level are new to pickleball and have little to no experience. They can hit basic shots and possess a fundamental understanding of the rules, scoring, and court positioning. Focus is on building confidence and familiarity with the game. (No rating or DUPR rating 1.0 - 2.5)

• Intermediate: Players at this level understand the rules and strategy of pickleball and can sustain rallies using a mix of shots. They can hit with some spin and accuracy, resulting in fewer unforced errors. Focus is on refining technique, improving court awareness, and developing strategic play. (DUPR rating 3.0-3.5)

• Advanced: Players at this level are proficient in all aspects of the game and employ advanced strategies. They exhibit strong footwork and a deep understanding of gameplay dynamics. This level focuses on competitive play, advanced shot-making, and tactical decision-making. (DUPR rating 4.0+)

• Saturday & Sunday (9:00am - 1:00pm)

SONNY TANNAN CAMP SCHEDULE (September 18-20)

Friday (5:00pm - 7:00pm)

• 5:00pm-5:45pm: Check-in, warm-up, and match play for evaluation.
• 5:45pm-6:00pm: Introductions of fellow camp participants and staff.
• 6:00pm-6:45pm: Live social match play with coach observed feedback on topics that will be covered in the camp sessions.
• 6:45pm-7:00pm: Review of agenda and daily camp schedule.

• 9:00am-9:15am: Warm-up
• 9:15am-10:15am: Dinking patterns and locational placement of the ball and body from positions on the court. Focus on strategy, shot selections and techniques at the non-volley zone (NVZ) including how to put it in to play in live game situations.
• 10:15am-10:30am: Live drill play with coach observed feedback on topics covered in the camp session.
• 10:30am-11:30am: Learn which balls to attack, defend, counter and reset in a variety of situations. Focus on strategy, shot selections and techniques at the non-volley zone (NVZ) including how to put it in to play in live game situations.
• 11:30am-11:45am: Live drill play with coach observed feedback on topics covered in the camp session.
• 11:45am-12:15pm: Please bring snacks or light lunch to eat during break and re-fuel. Opportunity for Q&A with the instructors on real-game experience and all things pickleball.
• 12:15pm-12:45pm: Proper court and paddle positioning fundamentals in various locations in the transition area (TA). Instruction on the right game strategy with a focus on partner chemistry and learning how to put it in to play in live game situations.
• 12:45pm-1:00pm: Q&A along with review of topics covered.

Sunday (9:00am-1:00pm)

• 9:00am-9:15am: Warm-up
• 9:15am-9:30am: Live match play with coach observed feedback on topics covered in the camp session.
• 9:30am-10:30am: Adding in movement through the court, especially in the transition area (TA) with the effective game strategies. There will be a focus on working as a team in a variety of live game situations based on how a point is playing out.
• 10:30am-10:45am: Live drill play with coach observed feedback on topics covered in the camp session.
• 10:45am-11:45am: Development of serve and return strategies including work on high efficiency shot selections including 3rd drops, drives & hybrids. Learn how to put it in to play in live game situations.
• 11:45am-12:00pm: Live drill play with coach observed feedback on topics covered in the camp session.
• 12:00pm-12:30pm: Please bring snacks or light lunch to eat during break and re-fuel. Opportunity for Q&A with the instructors on real-game experience and all things pickleball.
• 12:30pm-12:45pm: Live match play with coach observed feedback on topics covered in the camp sessions.
• 12:45pm-1:00pm: Q&A along with review session with coaches

EQUIPMENT, FACILITY & MORE

• Equipment Needed: All campers must bring a pickleball paddle, athletic shoes and a water bottle
• Facility: Ridge Club Pickleball & Tennis - 9 pickleball courts, 1 tennis court
• Medical Protocol: In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.

CANCELLATION POLICIES *PLEASE READ CAREFULLY*

Cancellations, for any reason, received at least seven (7) days before camp start date, will result in a camp VOUCHER for all tuition fees paid, valid through the following calendar year. Your VOUCHER is transferable to any family member and may be used for any sport. Cash refunds will be given only with the purchase of Cancellation Protection (see terms below). Those who cancel their camp session within seven (7) days of the camp start date will receive a camp VOUCHER for 50% of the camp tuition. Individuals who DO NOT attend their registered session (no-shows) will forfeit their full tuition payment.

Please note: Any camper with an unpaid balance 10 days before camp will forfeit all camp fees paid to date and be removed from the camp.

Cancellation by US Sports Camps

• In the unlikely event that US Sports Camps cancels your camp session, we will refund only your camp tuition and registration fee. Camper waives any and all damages that may otherwise arise out of any camp cancellation and agrees to accept as liquidated damages said registration fees.

Cancellation Protection

• US Sports Camps offers our camp families Cancellation Protection for $100 per session, due at the time of registration. Cancellation Protection entitles you to a full refund of your camp tuition fees paid to date (Please note: $100 Cancellation Protection and Registration fee are non-refundable.) if you cancel for any reason before your final payment date (the first day of the month prior to the month your camp begins, i.e. final pay date of May 1st for any camp in your sport beginning in the month of June). Cancellation Protection is not available for purchase when using a voucher credit towards camp tuition.

• With Cancellation Protection, if you cancel after your final payment due date, we will issue you a camp voucher for your tuition payments made. Your camp voucher will be transferable to an immediate family member and can be used for any sport. For camps taking place in 2024, camp vouchers are valid through 2025.

Accommodations and Travel

• These are Day Camps only; housing is not included in the camp tuition. Campers are responsible for arranging their own overnight accommodations.
• US Sports Camps, the Camp Director, the staff, and the host facility are not liable for any travel arrangements, including but not limited to flights, hotels, Airbnb’s, or rental cars.
• We recommend booking travel accommodations that are refundable or flexible, in case of any changes to the camp schedule.

Below is a suggested list of clothes, equipment, and personal items. US Sports Camps is NOT responsible for lost or stolen articles or money.

• Athletic, on-court pickleball clothing

• Pickleball Paddle(s)

• Comfortable court shoes (no running shoes)

• Sweatshirt/warm-up jacket and pants

• Water bottle

• Sunscreen
