    Director

    Tom Gerlach is a highly respected soccer coach with decades of experience developing youth and high school players at the highest levels. A former four‑year letterman at Carson‑Newman University, Tom went on to play semi‑professionally with the USISL Knoxville Impact before transitioning into an accomplished coaching career. He has accumulated 31 combined seasons of coaching experience across boys and girls programs, ranging from youth development to elite high school, club, collegiate, and semi‑professional levels.

    Tom has coached at some of the highest competitive levels, including serving as a head coach in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) and as an assistant coach at Tusculum University (NCAA Division II). At the high school level, he has led boys programs at Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK) and Christ Presbyterian Academy (CPA), coached girls varsity soccer at CPA, and guided Division I club teams for both boys and girls, earning a reputation for player development, competitive excellence, and strong leadership.

    A 15‑time Coach of the Year, Tom has guided teams to 14 state final appearances, 9 state championships, and holds the state record for most consecutive high school state titles (5). Beyond the field, Tom is deeply involved in the soccer community. He serves as Director of Eagles Academy Nashville and International Youth Tours with the Charlotte Eagles, both part of Missionary Athletes International. He also sits on several leadership boards, including the United Soccer Coaches Association Faith‑Based Coaching Board, the Tennessee High School Soccer Coaches Association Executive Board, and the United Soccer Coaches Award of Excellence Committee, while chairing the Pinnacle Award and Division II‑A All‑State rankings and team selection.

    Coach

    Douglas Oliveira is an assistant coach with the Liberty University men’s soccer program, bringing experience from the collegiate, USL League Two, and player‑development levels. Prior to joining the Flames, Oliveira served as an assistant coach with Mississippi Brilla FC, a USL League Two club based in Clinton, Mississippi. In addition to competing at a high level, the organization is known for its strong community impact through its Urban Soccer Project, which focuses on inner‑city outreach and player development. During his time at Liberty, Oliveira also served as the Flames’ team manager while completing his graduate studies.

    A native of Campinas, Brazil, Oliveira enjoyed a successful collegiate playing career, competing at both Indiana Wesleyan University and John Brown University. A dependable center back, he helped Indiana Wesleyan reach the NCCAA National Championship final. Oliveira also competed at the pre‑professional level with the Charlotte Eagles of USL League Two, where he earned All‑Conference honors and helped the Eagles capture a league championship.

    Oliveira earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science with a minor in coaching from Indiana Wesleyan University and later completed a master’s degree in human performance with a strength and conditioning cognate from Liberty University. He holds a U.S. Soccer National “D” Coaching License and is passionate about developing players both on and off the field.

  • Full-Day: 9:00am-3:00pm* (Camp ends at 12pm on Friday)

**Coaches reserve the right to adjust training groups at any time during camp based on ability and experience to ensure a positive and developmentally appropriate soccer experience for all players.**

HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ELIGIBILITY NOTE

If a current high school or rising freshman who played high school soccer in the past school year at another school attends this camp and is not currently enrolled at CPA, but then enrolls or transfers to CPA for the upcoming school year, they will be ineligible to play high school soccer at CPA for a period of the next 12 months from the date of the camp. This does not apply to any current CPA student.

Nike Soccer Camps provide a fun and challenging environment where players are grouped by age and ability to maximize development. Under the guidance of experienced coaches, campers sharpen their technical skills through focused training, small-sided games, and dynamic drills, building confidence and a passion for the game along the way.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE FEE?

  • Instruction: Training from CPA Head Coach Tom Gerlach and coaching staff

  • Day campers: Lunch is not provided. Please bring a packed lunch.

  • Supervision: Staff members are strategically placed throughout the camp to provide optimal supervision and participate in all activities

  • Camp T-shirt: All campers receive a Nike Soccer Camps t-shirt

INSTRUCTION, EQUIPMENT, & FACILITY

  • Ratio: Low camper-to-coach ratio

  • Groupings: Campers are grouped by age, ability, and experience

  • Equipment Needed: All campers must bring soccer cleats, shin guards, athletic shoes, and a water bottle.

  • Facility: Christ Presbyterian Academy Fields

  • Medical Protocol: Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital

TRANSPORTATION

Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.
