  • “This has been such a positive experience for my son! He comes home everyday proud of his accomplishments and sharing stories of how much fun he had at camp. This is his first time being part of an organized team sport, and he loves it! Thanks to you and all the coaches for providing a safe, fun, challenging, and overall great summer camp during this difficult time!”
  • “Our son, S---, had a wonderful experience. The program was well thought out and managed. Mixing in arts and crafts was perfect to break up the day. Best of all, the stickers. S--- LOVED earning the stickers. It wasn’t the sticker itself but the value associated with each. He really tried hard to exhibit the behavior/skills to earn the sticker. It was one of the few times something like that has worked for S--. All of it wouldn’t be possible without your secret weapon, you staff and coaches.”
  • “Our son had participated in a different camp the first session and there was no comparison. He would whine how much he didn’t want to go. Instead with your program, he was excited and most importantly MOTIVATED to go everyday and work really hard.”

  • “The past three weeks have been the highlight of our son’s summer, and we know that the experience has shaped him in ways that we are still discovering as he makes comments here and there about it. Camp Overview

2025 TOP-10 RATED DIRECTOR AWARDS RECIPIENT!

San Francisco Soccer Camp powered by Nike Soccer Camps, was voted as a Top-10 Nike Soccer Camp by parents in 2025(Top Camp in 2024)! Join us for an amazing week of camp at San Francisco Soccer Camp. Team up with Camp Director and 2023 Pac-12 Coach of the Year Leonard Griffin for the ultimate soccer training camp! San Francisco Soccer Camp (SFSC) offers so much more than your average soccer camp for players of all ability levels! Camps are led by a College Coaching Staff and additional support from elite college players to bring the camper-to-coach ratio down.

A note from Leonard Griffin, Head Coach, CAL Men's Soccer: "At the heart of our camp is the belief that high character leads to high performance. As a player, I saw firsthand how the most successful teams — both in college and professionally — were built on strong values, discipline, and teamwork. As a college coach, I’ve carried that lesson into every team I’ve led. That’s why, when we brought the Cal Men’s Soccer experience to San Francisco Soccer Camp, we knew character development had to be embedded into our program.

But it’s not just about building strong individuals; it’s also about ensuring that the game remains fun. Just like with our college players, we make it a priority that every camper understands the joy of soccer. Too often, we see young athletes losing sight of why they fell in love with the game in the first place. At San Francisco Soccer Camp, we create a space where players can work hard, grow technically, and most importantly — have fun. It’s that balance of passion, skill, character, and joy that makes our camp so unique."

Highlights Include

  • Instruction from Collegiate athletes and Cal coaches
  • Curriculum centered on 5 core values (respect, responsibility, integrity, leadership, & sportsmanship)
  • Elite technical training & game knowledge development
  • Competitive and Fun Scrimmages
  • Low camper to coach ratio
  • Campers grouped by age and ability level
  • Camp T-shirt
  • Voted the #1 Nike Soccer Camp by parents in 2024

Camp Coaches

    Leonard Griffin

Head Coach - Cal Men's Soccer

Leonard Griffin, a former California men’s soccer assistant with more than a decade of collegiate coaching experience, was named the head coach of the Cal men’s soccer program of March 31, 2022.

    Leonard Griffin 150x150

    Leonard Griffin

Head Coach - Cal Men's Soccer

A talented recruiter and coach who has sent more than 30 student-athletes to the professional ranks, Griffin served as head coach at Grand Canyon for the 2021 season and previously was the head coach at San Francisco from 2019 through the 2021 spring season. He led Grand Canyon to a 15-4-1 overall record and to the WAC’s regular-season title with a 9-2 conference mark. The Antelopes – whose RPI was ranked as high as No. 1 last season – earned an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament.

His Lopes finished the season ranked 25th in the country and had eight players earn WAC honors, including WAC Defender of the Year Esai Easley and Justin Rasmussen, an All-WAC midfielder. Easley and Rasmussen became the first Grand Canyon players chosen in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft when Sporting Kansas City selected Easley at No. 22 and the Portland Timbers picked Rasmussen at No. 27. Griffin has now coached 35 players who have gone on to play professional soccer.

At USF from 2019-21, Griffin led the Dons to a third-place finish in 2021 after the WCC coaches picked his team to finish last in the preseason poll. He coached the WCC Freshman of the Year and All-WCC first-team selection Nonso Adimabua, as the Dons finished with a 5-4-2 record in the truncated spring season due to the pandemic.

Griffin started his coaching career as an assistant coach with the Cal State San Bernardino’s women’s team from 2009-11, and from 2011-13, he was an assistant on the Saint Mary’s men’s staff. The Gaels won the WCC championship and reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament in 2011 and then placed third in the WCC in 2012. Griffin coached and developed 2012 WCC Defender of the Year Trevor Newquist.

Griffin served as an assistant coach at Cal from 2013-14. In 2013, he worked closely with a Golden Bear squad that was ranked No. 1 in the nation for six weeks, earned the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament and produced numerous future pros, including defenders Steven Birnbaum, chosen No. 2 by D.C. United in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft, and Christian Dean, who was drafted right behind Birnbaum at No. 3 by the Vancouver Whitecaps.

The UCLA alum returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach from 2014-16 and helped lead the Bruins to a 25-13-6 record during his tenure. UCLA produced the top recruiting classes in the country in 2014 and 2015. The 2014 squad finished as the national runner-up, while in 2015 nine UCLA players earned All-Pac-12 honors. Griffin coached several talented Bruins, including 2014 MAC Hermann National Player of the Year Leo Stolz and 2015 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year Jose Hernandez.

Griffin was an assistant coach and the recruiting coordinator at Portland from 2016-19. He helped the team to the 2016 WCC title, which was Portland’s first conference championship since 2002. He also coached several of the talented Pilots in 2016, including WCC Player of the Year Eddie Sanchez and WCC Freshman of the Year Benji Michel. Griffin worked to bring in a top-20 recruiting class in 2016 and top-five classes in 2017 and 2018.

Griffin, who played professionally for several years, was drafted by the Chicago Fire in the 2004 MLS SuperDraft and played for the Fire through 2006. He also played for the Los Angeles Galaxy (2009) and the USL’s Portland Timbers (2007-08) and Austin Aztex (2010).

Griffin played at UCLA from 2000-03, winning the national championship with the Bruins in 2002 and earning All-America honors in 2003.

Griffin replaced Kevin Grimes, who retired in February 2022 after leading the program for 22 seasons.

SKILL LEVELS

Youth Academy is for grades K-4th and will focus on team building, social skills, and technical skill development. The emphasis of the camp is to help the youngest players foster a love of the game! Camps will include individual instruction, world cup day and theme-based days, short-sided games, and scrimmages each day. We will also include additional soccer-themed enrichment activities throughout the three weeks such as art, Soccer story-time, and other fun!

Junior Premier Camp is for our more seasoned 4th - 6th grade Club Level campers we offer specialized training sessions and an elevated soccer camp for club level players focused on high-level skills training for your advanced soccer player! Our coaches focus on technical development, improving tactical awareness, and increasing decision-making ability in order to conquer more challenging game situations.

POD POINTS & STICKERS

Each of the individual days of the week is also broken down into a Character Skill and a Soccer Skill. Throughout the week campers can earn Pod Points for their groups when they display one of the Character Skills or Soccer Skills throughout each day. Pod Points can also be earned for working towards improving their soccer juggling (Juggle Master) or from a creative soccer skill (Joga Bonito).

At camp, each coach carries a red and yellow card like a referee. At San Francisco Soccer Camp these cards are only used for positive acknowledgment. So when a camper is shown a red or yellow card it’s because they are earning one of the following Pod Points (which are given out in the form of a sticker).

We have a three-week tracker that coaches use to track and record stickers given in order to ensure every camper does end up receiving at least 7 out of the 9 stickers. The only two that your camper might not receive is the Juggle Master and Joga Bonito sticker as they are only given out to two campers each day.

The stickers are intended to be earned and meaningful and the coaches provide a speech at the end of the day where they acknowledge the campers who received yellow/red cards, they recap the reason the sticker was earned and issue the sticker.

  • Mondays: Soccer Skill: Dribbling (change of direction) | Character Skill: Respect
  • Tuesdays: Soccer Skill: Dribbling (to beat an opponent) | Character Skill: Responsibility
  • Wednesdays: Soccer Skill: Passing | Character Skill: Integrity
  • Thursdays: Soccer Skill: Shooting | Character Skill: Leadership
  • Fridays: Soccer Skill: Game day | Character Skill: Sportsmanship
